EPG Not Updating

Thank you all for your replies - it is very kind of you all to take the time. I will follow your advice - hopefully over the weekend.

On the point of sorting out NextPVR before dealing with Kodi, whilst I understand that is a good idea, do I have to do anything with the channels in NextPVR before I set up the second tuner? I never worked out how Kodi determined the channel numbers but I assume it gets that information from NextPVR. I got how to set-up groups but didn't understand whether I need to name the channels in a particular way. In other words, why did Kodi decide that Channel 4 would be the first channel and film4 the second. Is this something I'm doing or not doing in NextPVR and do I need to sort that out before dealing with the second tuner?

I think I also worked out why my last post was lost - does the forum log me out if I stop typing?

In general you're best to setup the channel groups and channel numbers etc in NextPVR.

NextPVR will try to get the channel numbers automatically from the broadcast when initially scanning for channels. This only works if the they're sending the LCN numbers in the stream though. I'm not sure if Freesat sends these or not. Otherwise you'll have to renumber the channels to get them in the order you want.

I followed the advice everyone gave me but I'm still having problems with the EPG on a few channels. The only ones that really bother me are Channel 4 HD and CNN HD. I have tried both Freesat and DVB/ATSC EPG. Neither of these give me EPG data for these channels. Am I doing something wrong?

Please reboot the computer (to reset all the NextPVR logs), go to NextPVR Settings --> Channels and click the Update EPG button and when that is complete ... go to NextPVR Settings --> About and click the button to zip the logs ... Attach the logs to a new post. Thanks.

I am happy to do that but I'm not sure if your response means that the EPG for Channel 4 HD should be updated from Freesat or DVB/ATSC? Should I be getting the Channel 4 HD data or is there something different about Channel 4 HD?

I'm not sure how to ask the question, but are there multiple Channel 4 HD's and have I selected the wrong one somehow? I've noticed NextPVR often finds multiple versions of the same channel and some of these get EPG data and some don't. For example, I get EPG data for CNN (SD version) but not the HD version. As I am new to all this I am still not sure whether I should be getting EPG data from Freesat for all channels? If I select DVB/ATSC does this mean the data is coming from Sky?

Yesterday I tried to set the recording of next weeks programmes from the TV Guide and found that there was no data for next Friday. I tried to start an EPG data update but it made no difference. This morning the data for next Friday was there. Is this normal?

I use XML EPG so select the Channel 4 SD EPG although I could select the Freeview HD data which does have the Channel 4 HD EPG! There is only one C4 HD broadcast on 11127.00 MHZ V.

Thank you so much. I'll have to read about XML EPG. I saw it listed but have no idea how to use it.

On my old PVR I could select the SD channel data and it would then ask me if I want to record SD or HD. Can NextPVR do that?

C4 HD is still being transmitted presumably for Sky users and Freesat boxes can receive it in Non Freesat mode without EPG. I use EPG Collector to create a Freeview xml EPG file and a Freesat xml EPG file. I have 3 sources of Channel 4 HD, 2 satellite and one terrestrial. So under Settings > Channels I can select either file as my EPG source so I am using the Freeview file as source for Channel 4 HD but could instead use the Freeview or Freesat Channel 4 (SD) EPG which is the same.

If you only have DVB-S/S2 tuners it may be worth running EPG Collector on the Freesat EPG as source just for C4 HD but you would have to manually select the SD version of the EPG in NextPVR.
