I would like to try testing V5 Beta on a windows client machine on which V4 is already installed as a client that uses a different machine as the server.

Is this permitted?

I've unzipped the download into folder NPVRV5. I hesitate to launch NPVRServer.exe. What happens when it executes? Will it disrupt my client connection to my current server? What happens to client NRecord.exe? Does the launch also create the User folder? Will that clobber the current V4 client setup?

Your install instructions state that the port should be changed to something other than 8866. Does this mean the port V5 will use? I'm guessing that a new config.xml will be created to allow the port change since there is now no config.xml.

Thanks...

On a network client there shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure that you have disabled the v4 service which you should not be running anyway and exit the old ntray

Ah, I know what is happening. (related to being a non-SiliconDust branded HDHR)

I've just got to take care of some day job stuff for the next couple of hours, but I'll fix it after that.

That's great, sub. Many thanks!

PS - Where did you find the error? Which log?

Actually it was just from reading the description, and me thinking 'oh shit, I forgot that method wont work for the Hauppauge branded version' of the device.

I assume if you visit http://ipv4-api.hdhomerun.com/discover in your browser, you don't see your Hauppauge device listed?

v5 already has some device discovery code for detecting your device, which is disabled at the moment, because I changed to a slightly different method to simplify things in Docker. I'll just need to add that in as a fallback.

You are correct, sub. That URL discovers nothing.

I'll be patiently waiting for a new drop.

Thanks.

The new drop worked quite well and I was able to set up all three tuners. Thank you.
