I have searched for guides and have come short. I am usually pretty tech savvy, but I am having major issues using the HDPVR and ATT Uverse. Does anyone know what I can do to get the IR blaster to work and to add channels? I am completely lost. I will pay someone for help if need be.

Not much help from but t is possible the Hauppauge blaster doesn't work with your STB but you basically have to go through the options in the Blastcfg program and if the ATT (or maybe motorola or scientific atlanta) code doesn't work check on the internet. If you can't get support from Hauppauge there are other IR Blasters you can buy (assuming your STB isn't RF)

The general approach for setting up an HDPVR for a US user would be:

1) Get a Schedules Direct account, you'll need this for your list of tv channels, and your tv listings.

2) Get your IR Blaster setup and working correctly in the Hauppauge IR software. NextPVR just going to tell Hauppauge what channel it wants, and the Hauppauge software and blaster takes care of this stuff.

3) Go to the Settings->Devices screen, double click the HDPVR device
4) Set the audio and video inputs you're intending to use for these channels
5) Set it to use the Hauppauge IR blaster.
6) Hit the Import button
7) Set the EPG source to Schedules Direct, add your lineup (may need to click the "..." button), by searching your zip code, and selecting from the available lineups in your area
8) Ok to pull in the channels.

(I didn't have an HDPVR plugged in so can't double check right now, but from memory those are the approximate steps)

Thanks everyone! My IR blaster I plugged in from my slingbox as I don't have the original one from my Hauppauge. This may be the issue. Does the IR From hauppauge have to be used? Will it emit a light? If the hauppauge cant use ir, what other solutions are there?

No you don't need the Hauppauge IR Blaster, but if you are using NextPVR you need a program to control the tuning. If you can find a command line tool to tune from you sling box that will work too. I can't speak to what IR blaster will work for you.

If you mean you plugging in your slingbox blaster (ie, the cable + led) into your HDPVR, no I wouldn't that wouldn't work.

As Martin says above though, if this is a stand alone blaster, like a USB device or something, and you've got some software for setting it up, and command line utilities for blasting a channel number, then NextPVR could use that.

No, that's just cable (like a headphone cable). It has no IR blaster.

LIRC based IR Blasters can send most of the key codes not just OK. Typically with NextPVR that isn't necessary you just send leading zeroes to pad the number of digits that your STB requires or let it timeout.
