My only comment would be that over years of using V4, I have found that any "blip" in the recorded stream (including the time wrap) would trigger the behaviour for us.

It would drive the wife mad because it was very difficult to jump over the problematic point in the recording.

Playing the file in Windows Media player would cause it to hang at the problem point so it wasn't exclusive to NPVR.

At some point we'll all have to make the change to V5. Appreciate the PCH problem. I used to use 3 Hauppauge MVPs. Switched to Raspberry Pi's using Kodi. (not too expensive :-) )

Works pretty well for us.

I have a box in the basement with 5 MVPs (didn't sell on ebay) along with 2 unused PCHs. I still prefer the MVP remotes and have my ODroids and RPi4 setup to use them, my wife likes the PCH remote which I have setup with a Flirc on the HTPC in the family room.

I actually have V5 setup on a VM which I can use with my HDHR tuner, so I could try copying the troubled recording to that VM and see how it works on V5.

@baj1 already has the odroid n2 which should be more stable then the PCH client with knewc and there is the Kodi pvr option too. This thread indicates the v5 NextPVR is better on the local machine than v4 so I don't fully understand the WAF issue either.

I would love to go to v5 and get rid of my last Windows box, but I can't get the wife off the PCH clients which are not supported in V5.

I think we may have a different problem anyway.  It seems to be jumping into FF during playback after it jumps a commercial block found by Comskip.  She saved a recording and playback time for me to look at when I get home from work.  I'll give it a try and post logs.
Mine just started doing this shows whole length but after a few min of playing back recordings it just stops. Can't ffwd past it happened after updating. Gonna try changing decoder and a few things... It worked amazing for months coming back to using nextpvr for iptv

Welcome to my world - life with a technophobe.  It's not logical.  I *just* got her to give up the flip phone and into a smart phone.  She's not old enough to be like this!

My ODroids aren't perfect either, although I'm suspecting now there are server-side issues as my *new* server is having problems.  Someday I'll have time to document.

Anyway, as for the WAF, the PCH is the "devil she knows".  I'd need to buy more ODroids (or RPi4's) to replace the rest of my PCH locations also.

Good question. I don't see any Sticky's in the general forums, but would guess a polite post with as much info as you can gather would get the best response. I would suggest finding the forum closest related to your topic and posting. If it's a software issue you are having you need to post your log files from the time the issue occurred if you want help with it. If you right-click on the NextPVR GUI and pick "Settings", there's a button on the first tab that says something like "zip my log files and show me where they are", which will help you with that part of it. Oh, that's actually v4, but there is something similar in v5, just don't remember how you navigate to it.
