Hi,

When and if you have time can you send me an example/copy of extra-RadioTime.xml with playing stations. I have the hauppage xbox one tuner (no fm). But following your directions it has fm because I am playing it now (97.9) using ffmpeg -show_analog_tv_tuner_dialog true -f dshow -i audio="Hauppauge Cx23100 Audio Capture" "C:\Users\box\Desktop\test.wav". But when I go to web extra and scan I get Error in extra-RadioTime.xml: Input string was not in a correct format.

my xml one station example
<channel name="97.9 The Box" number="97.9" service_type="2">
<command>cmd</command>
<icon>http://cdn-radiotime-logos.tunein.com/s31912q.png</icon>
<args>/c "C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts\RadioTime.bat" s31912</args>
</channel>

Thanks,

This script in FM format shouldn't use RadioTimes did you run it with

python nextradio.py FM

I did run it with the script. Deleted .xml and .bat file. Ran script again saying no to RadioTime. Now extras no longer display the error, but does not find any stations since it's just sitting there blank. No worries I have a 955Q coming Thursday and will use that one since it also have FM out the box though. Thanks.

Scanning is hard coded for FM devices.  It sounds like you didn't install python for the system user.  There is a link on the wiki explaining how

Just came back and checked extras and all of Houston stations were there. Guess I bought the 955Q to soon since this xbox one tuner also has FM. Thank you guys for your hard work.

Like I mentioned the scan and the stations in the xml file are created before you load them into NextPVR. This does not mean the extra is working.

Getting FM working can be a waste of time if your stations are available via Internet radio.

Thanks Martin . I went back to nextpvr 4. It does what I want. I will go back to 5 if it ever gets FM.

I've been following along with this thread this morning, attempting to get FM on a hauppauge hybrid digital/analog tuner (xbox one version)

So far, ATSC on this tuner works just fine w/ nextpvr v5.  I have installed v4 as well just to check that my tuner works for FM -- it does.

I have the 'EXTRA' device showing in v5 web interface, and python script runs successfully etc.  I have edited the AnalogRadio.bat and added the analog tuner device in 2 locations.

I get audio... but it doesn't seem to change channel, just defaulting to some static non-channel for all stations selected.  I have reached my limit for understanding this process and how to trouble-shoot.  Maybe I skipped a step; it is somewhat unclear which steps on 1st page of this thread are actual instructions for setup, and which were relied on for information gathering and developing the python script etc.

For this implementation, internet radio is not a good option, as the internet connection to this location is very slow and often intermittent, cutting in and out during the hours we typically consume media, almost every day.  We have a large TV antenna mounted on the roof, and receive good FM signal -- FM radio broadcast would be preferable over internet radio.  Gonna maybe try v4 for now, though would love to figure this out

Did you do the two steps to run ffmpeg to listen to a station and have VLC tune frequencies?

Martin

thanks for reply! I did not -- I misunderstood what was taking place there on 1st read.  Will attempt again and report back shortly.

edit:  have been able to tune and listen to FM via the ffmpeg commands on 1st page of this thread, and able to listen via VLC as well.  That said my nextpvr client still has issues, with nothing playing at all there now (vs static on earlier attempt).

I think much of my confusion lies with the devices returned by ffmpeg:

Quote:[dshow @ 01541340]  "Hauppauge Cx23100 Video Capture"
[dshow @ 01541340]    Alternative name "@device_pnp_\\?\usb#vid_2040&pid_b123&mi_01#6&11312d8e&0&0001#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\{9b365890-165f-11d0-a195-0020afd156e4}"
[dshow @ 01541340] DirectShow audio devices
[dshow @ 01541340]  "Analog Audio In (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955q (1114xx ATSC/QAM))"
[dshow @ 01541340]    Alternative name "@device_cm_{33D9A762-90C8-11D0-BD43-00A0C911CE86}\wave_{0BFE6FE9-56C3-4836-95C8-FFAF53F5B082}"
[dshow @ 01541340]  "Hauppauge Cx23100 Audio Capture"
[dshow @ 01541340]    Alternative name "@device_pnp_\\?\usb#vid_2040&pid_b123&mi_01#6&11312d8e&0&0001#{33d9a762-90c8-11d0-bd43-00a0c911ce86}\{4b4332f4-c824-11db-beb4-00a0c9f21fc7}"

I was using the "Analog Audio In (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-955q (1114xx ATSC/QAM))" earlier in AnalogRadio.bat, and receiving sound but no ability to tune into anything.  When I revisited 1st page of thread just now and attempted ffmpeg commands, I could only get the GUI for FM radio to launch using the "Hauppauge Cx23100 Video Capture".  The VLC windows interface requires that I select both the video and audio device listed above, but not the analog. I am uncertain how to tune different frequencies in VLC.

Anyway I'm a little confused about 1) which device(s) I should be using in AnalogRadio.bat, and 2) what exactly I need to accomplish with VLC, other than confirming it works...
