I have a NextPVR/Kodi setup working well on an Ubuntu 18.04 system. I thought I'd try my luck on a "clean" Xubuntu 20.04 install. Not much luck so far with just NextPVR. NextPVR installs with no problem. I tried 2 USB ATSC interfaces (Pinnacle 800e and Kworld 435). Did appropriate firmware installs. Both are detected by NextPVR and both scan with 34 channels. Both can initially play liveTV. But...when I try to load Schedules Direct EPG, things go a bit haywire. The EPG load isn't like on my 18.04 system. There is a 60 second countdown the seems to stop at 1 second. On my other system, it shows channel information being loaded. No guide data appears in the web interface. Then the play liveTV stops working, stuck on the message "Starting Device" and eventually showing "Streaming Failed (transcoder exited)". Some of this is reflected in the nrecord.log files that I can include with the "standard" logs-....zip file(s) in subsequent posts. If I restart, NextPVR will kind of work (can again see liveTV) until I again attempt to load up the EPG (though I can keep liveTV going in some cases by having it open while loading EPG...but it eventually stops working). I'm at a loss trying to decipher the logs...can only make out snippets of useful info...

Question is...am I jumping the gun trying to get this to work on 20.04?

Nver hesitate to upload the zipped logs, it saves us having to ask for them.

This sounds like your channels are set of DVB/ATSC EPG, not Schedules Direct. You can check this on the Settings->Channels page. The ATSC EPG isn't support in Linux at this stage, so wont get you any listings. You'll need to switch those channels over to Schedules Direct.

I thought like sub but I wanted to see it in the logs it saves us guessing.

"channels": [
{
"channelId": 7148,
"channelNumber": 8,
"channelMinor": 1,
"channelNumberFormated": "8.1",
"channelType": 1,
"channelName": "WZCK-LD",
"channelEPG": "DVB/ATSC EPG", <<<<<<<
"groups": "Digital Channels~ATSC Channels~WZCK-LD~Digital Channels~ATSC Channels~WZCK-LD",
"channelDetails": "533028615 SID:1001",
"channelIcon": false
}

You need to map the channels to SD You should be able to auto map to the OTA SD linuep

Yes, the logs show you using the DVB/ATSC EPG. You should switch those to Schedules Direct. ie, head to the Settings->Channels screen, Advanced Tools -> Automap, and select your SD channel lineup.

I forgot to document the step to convert all channels from DVB to Schedules Direct. I can do it individually, but I thought there was a "convert all" option by doing just one...? In the meantime, I'll try it individually.
Tnx

Two of us directed you to Auto Map which is what you are looking for.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother posting when people seem too busy to read.

Graham has also been putting a lot of time into the wiki and it is there too https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Setup-EPG take advantage of the resources we do have.
