I'm a newbie on this, I would appreciate any help I can get on this,

I have a PVR350 card and I followed the quickstart procedure to the letter. when I go back to run GBPVR I get the following message:

"No availabe PVR350 was detected in the system"

I have tried to update all the drivers and such without any success. In addition I have verified that the card works since I'm able to view video on WinTV2000 (Hauppage Software).

At this point I'm short of ideas. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have been able to figure my problem out by doing a couple of things:

1. Change My Settings in Config from Hardware Decoder to Software Decoder.

2. In the Misc section remo the de-interlaced option.

At this point, When I try to access Live TV I get a Please Wait Message related to starting timeshift mode. GBPVR does not crash but I have waited for more than five minutes without any changes on the screen.

They way I have it set up is that I'm looking at the video out of my video card and not the video out of my pvr350.

Any pointers?

Thanks,

Turn off "Live Preview if possible". See if that gives you Live TV working.
You can never have enough tuners!

I was able to fix the live tv by playing with live preview as reboot recomended. I would like to take advantage of the video out capabilities of my pvr350 and its hardware decoder.

Now i'm still interested in understanding why gbpvr cannot find my pvr 350.

Is this a matter of some software locking availability of the pvr350? Is there something I need to setup in the pvr350?

I have move the card from pci slot to another pci slot without any luck. can anybody point me to a thread or someone that has faced similar issues?

thanks in advance,

This won't help you much, but I've never heard of anyone with those problems with tv out on the 350. Especially since you say it works on wintv2000? Mine works, and I don't know that I did anything special to get it to work. Sounds like one of those times you wish you had a friend with another 350 so you could *really* rule out hardware problems...

Yes, I also havn't come across this problem before. I'm not sure what it could be.

When you say you've seen it work in WinTV2000, can you confirm it was via the TV out connector on the PVR350, and not just on the PC monitor?

That is correct. I have done it with wintv2000 having it set video out to playlocal and out. In fact I just tried it before sending this reply. To triplecheck I diable the "ON" check for the Video Out option in the menu of wintv2000 and the signal I get on my TV screen is that test signal with the columned color pattern.
Do you know what is GPVR is doing or why it generates that error (meaning, normally you would get this error message when....)?
Is there a way to get a couple of ealier releases of GBPVR for me to try.?

Well, thanks again for your assistance. These are plenty of questions for now. I'll keep trying. At this point I know I can get it to work with the software decoder, but I really want to see it work using the hardware decoder.

Thanks,

Its just trying to use the PVR350 decoder driver, but not finding it installed in your machine.

No, ths wont help you. I've not changed this check for the PVR350 in over 12 months. Any old version would do the same thing.

If you're using the drivers that came on the CD with your PVR350, you may want to upgrade to modern ones from http://www.shspvr.com/forum

Thanks, I will try that once I'm at home.

Now, the driver name I see on my windows device manager is "Hauppage PVR PCI II (encoder/decoder)" is this what you expect? or should I expect something such as PVR350 or such?

I dont have my PVR350 in my machine at the moment, but from memory the name should be something like that.
