Can NPVRTray.exe be made to correctly report device status on a machine other than the server? What would be the steps if so?

Sub can answer for the tray, it suffers some of the same remote API issues as NextPVR.exe

Here is a slightly updated version, which you can optionally provide server parameter:

NPVRTray.exe -server 192.168.1.12

or

NPVRTray.exe -server 192.168.1.12:8866

The machine you run it on will need the .NET runtime installed (like 4.7.2).

Will the remote access keep clients from sleeping if the remote is recording?

I have found that if the server is recording, the client PC, a laptop in my case, cannot be made to sleep. Kill the tray program and the PC will sleep.
