Hi folks,
I need some help with a consistent crash that I'm seeing with NextPVR.
When I try to watch a channel in web interface, it switches to the screen, displays the message "Starting device ..." and right after that windows crashes with a blue screen. It points to an issue with "AVerBDA716x_x64.sys". Running the memory dump through windbg confirms that.

The logs are attached and you can see the problem occur at "2020-07-19 13:32:31.430" in nrecord.log.1

This is consistently reproducible and in order to debug, I tried another program - SmartDVBx64 0.5.3.26. I didn't install it, just ran the portable version (so there is nothing copied/registry keys interference). Now here it gets interesting. If I run SmartDVB (and quit it) before watching anything in NextPVR (through web interface), NextPVR actually works. If I try to watch NextPVR before running SmartDVB, it consistently blue screens.

Any pointers ?

Apologies if I am stating the bleedin' obvious ... Are you running the absolute latest version of the driver?

A quick grope about in the Avermedia support site found mention of a "BSOD" fix for one of their drivers ... but I dunno if it was relevant to your device.

I don't really know what to tell you - it'll be some driver issue, where it doesn't like something about the requests NextPVR is making. Unfortunately I have no way to know what exactly it doesn't like. Ultimately, a driver shouldn't blue screen like that, and we're not see this issue with any other device.

As Graham suggested above, the best advice is probably to check if you're running the latest driver. You could also report the issue to AverMedia - if they're interested in looking into it, there driver developers could pretty quickly determine where the issue is happening (using dump files or crash message).
