I’m not a computer or TV person. I have no clue what I’m doing. I have Windows 7 on my desktop. I have a Hauppauge WinTV DCR 2650 connected to the local cable provider with their cable card. Cable provider is Charter/Spectrum. I have used Windows Media Center for years for watching and recording TV. This has worked great for me. Now Windows 7 is no longer supported and I can’t get TV guide.

For weeks I have been trying to get something to work. I have tried Kodi, MediaPortal, Lav filters, HDHomeRun, NextPVR, EPG123, I have downloaded so many applications that my hard drive is getting full. I’m at wits end.

I have written to Hauppauge and they suggested NextPVR and HDHomeRun. Both work and both show all my channels but neither show anything in TV guide.

Is there anything I can do to get a TV guide to work on my system?

Thank you,

Bob

Did you subscribe to SD and try EPG123 withWMC following the instructions I posted? I understand Win7 is no longer supported but you are still using it.

Thanks Martin.

I hate windows 10 and will not use it. When I got my laptop for my shop I paid extra for Windows 7.

Per your earlier suggestion I downloaded EPG123. I don't know how to set it up. Very confusing.

What is SD? Where do I get it? Is it as complicated?

Is there an easy - step by step guide?

Your right SD can mean a lot of things. In this case it is Schedules Direct. Didn't the link I gave your yesterday provide everything you need to get WMC working again? https://epg123.garyan2.net/install/

I finally found client set up. Step 1 says it wants to delete my current tuner configuration. My TV works now and I'm concerned that this is going to mess that up. If this fails will I have to re-configure my tuner? I don't know how to do that. If this fails I'll have nothing?

You understand my concern. I've tried 4 different applications and none work.

Do I need to Schedules Direct first?

I'd gladly pay Schedules Direct $25.00 to get my WMC working again. But I have a few questions.
How does it work?
What do I need to do?
What all do I need?
If SD makes my WMC work like it did before - I'm all in.
Thanks

SD will give you your guide data back and has a trial. I suggest you try and get support from the EPG123 or WMC web sites.

I have hunch that if you can't follow those instructions or their detailed video you won't be able to get NextPVR working the way you'd like. Not only do you have to configure SD you have to added tuners, schedules etc which you already have in WMC. The solutions you have mentioned do work you are having trouble with the installation which is why I suggested EPG123.

I'm not sure that a NextPVR forum is the best place to get support for WMC and EPG123 ... I am sure that we can help if you want to use NextPVR with Schedules Direct.

But you need to choose NextPVR or WMC ... You might not get much advice regarding the choice because few, if any, folk on this forum use WMC because it is a NextPVR forum so we mostly use NextPVR.

https://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/ is a good place to ask questions about WMC.
