V5 install

Tried to install V5, but when I clicked on link (https://nextpvr.com/NPVRSetup.exe.), The page blinked and that was it. I have version 4.2.5 and it should update automatically at start, but doesn't. Tried to update since I am having problems with recordings stopping early.

FYI, there is no automated upgrade from 4.x to 5.x. They're pretty much different applications. I'd just backup your npvr.db3 and config.xml, then uninstall v5 and set it up. (for some types of tuners you can just copy in the old npvr.db3 to get a head start on setup)

got it. Did realize it was downloading with out telling me. I got 12 version of the setup program.

So what is the difference between v4 and V5 and which one should I use? I had V% for a little bit but is now gone. Maybe if I want V5 I need to uninstall V4 first after saving db3 and config.

If you're running on Windows, it'll look pretty similiar to what you've had in the past (with the exception of configuration, which is now done in a web app) v4 was a Windows only application, and the configuration was done inside nextpvr.exe. v5 is a multi-platform application, which runs on Windows, Mac, Linux and Docker. Configuration is done using the web app. It still includes nextpvr.exe for Windows users that want the familiar UI from previous versions. v5 is the version that still gets updates and fixes. v4 does not.

Tried installing V5. Settings still said V4. Tried uninstalling V4 with windows . Pushed uninstall but it was still there and if I press uninstall again, it said it could not find a file. Went to task manager and stopped a couple NPVR apps from staring. Restarted. After backing up DB3 and config, I deleted everything NPVR in Program Files folder and in Users folder. Used NPVRSetup.exe to try and install V5. Seemed to work but when I went to settings it asked for a name and password. The only name and password I have is for this forum which didn't work. Went through all the deleting again and used NPVRSetup_4_2_5_191014.exe to try and install my old V4. Seems to work so far but I do not have a tray icon.

I did get V5 installed maybe. The local app in settings still says V4. The Web app is not usable for me. Lettering unreadable at a distance on my big screen. Cannot select programs to watch with the arrow keys anymore. Must use a mouse. Must log in every time even if I check remember me. We shall see tonight when I watch recorded shows longer.
