Hello,

Since migrating to a new (faster) machine I am experiencing a bug in both V4.2.5 and V5.1.1 when changing between channels with MPEG-1 and AAC audio.  I get the overlay "Missing Audio.  You don't have <...> decoder selected." message.

I have a post on this in the V4 forum - https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=62575

The thing is, I do have working decoders selected.  If I tune to either channel from scratch from the TV Guide, they work perfectly.  If I change from one channel to the other, I get the overlay and no audio.  Seems to be the same bug as discussed in these two threads:

https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...388&page=2
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=58260

What does work:

- Tuning directly to a channel from scratch (i.e. no live TV running)
- Tuning between channels of the same audio type
- Tuning between channels of different audio types on different tuners
- Recordings

What doesn't work:

- Tuning between channels of different audio types (seemingly specific to when the same tuner is reused, which is of course the normal way of things)

Screenshots attached from V5.

- Working screenshot is tuning directly to the channel from TV guide when no live TV active.
- Missing audio screenshot is tuning from another channel with MPEG-1 audio.  Get similar error in opposite direction.
(Also this is my 147th thread...  Big Grin )

V5 logs attached.  V4 logs in thread linked at top of this post.

I have tried all LAV decoders, all Microsoft decoders, and a mix of both and others.  Same results whatever I try.

Thank you for any advice.

You need to include the zipped log from the web Settings screen , Those didn't even include any NPVR log (maybe you don't have a v5 shortcut?)

Hmm, that's annoying, I did actually create that ZIP from the web settings screen but as you say it's missing files (sorry, I didn't check, I assumed it would have had everything).

So to rule out my migrated npvr.db3 being the issue (I think it's about 10 years old) I did a clean install of V5.1.1 and was able to reproduce the problem.  I have new information.

The issue manifests when changing between Freeview HD (UK) channels and Saorview (Ireland) channels.  Freeview SD to Saorview, and Freeview SD to Freeview HD is okay.  Here is the scenario:
  • BBC1 (#1) - Freeview SD / MPEG-1 Audio
  • BBC2 HD (#102) - Freeview HD / AAC Audio
  • RTE1 HD (#891) - Saorview / MPEG-1 Audio

In the logs:

Starting at 14:44

  1. No Live TV
  2. Tune to #1 - Okay
  3. Tune to #102 - Okay
  4. Tune to #891 - Missing Audio warning (MPEG-1)
Starting at 14:45

  1. No Live TV
  2. Tune to #1 - Okay
  3. Tune to #102 - Okay
  4. Tune to #1 - Okay
  5. Tune to #891 - Okay
Starting at 14:47

  1. No Live TV
  2. Tune to #891 - Okay
  3. Tune to #1 - Okay
  4. Tune to #102 - Okay
  5. Tune to #1 - Okay
  6. Tune to #891 - Okay
  7. Tune to #102 - Missing Audio warning (AAC)

So this might be why few users see the error.  It does not manifest in the Freeview system.  Only specifically when changing from Freeview HD to Saorview or vice-versa.

On my old PC, Freeview HD channels are on a separate tuner which did no recordings other than the DVB-T2 muxes.  That's probably why I never had the issue before.  Although Saorview is HD video, it's using DVB-T and MPEG-1 audio.

Just thought I'd add another note that if you do PIP, you can have #891 and #102 running simultaneously and NextPVR is happy to switch between the two of them. Of course, they are on separate tuners in that circumstance.

Hi sub,

It is set to 'true'. I did toggle this on V4 via the GUI, no change. I haven't tried to change it on V5.

Try setting it to false in config.xml to see if it makes a difference.

Hi sub,

Unfortunately that didn't help.  As with V4, whether this setting is 'true' or 'false' the result is I still get no audio and the warning when changing between Saorview and a Freeview HD channel.

On the Saorview channels I get the following streams (V5):
  • eng
  • iri
  • nar
And on Freeview HD:
  • eng
  • eng, Visually Impaired

V4 gives a bit more info, Saorview:
  • Track 1 [MPEG1, eng]
  • Track 2 [MPEG1, irl]
  • Track 3 [MPEG1, nar]
Freeview HD:
  • Track 1 [HE-AAC, eng]
  • Track 2 [HE-AAC, eng, Visually Impaired]
Freeview SD:
  • Track 1 [MPEG1, eng]
  • Track 2 [MPEG1, eng, Visually Impaired]

Can you post a log with that setting enabled?
