I copied over some recordings from my home server to my local server today. And thought that the easiest way to get them into my database would be to use NextImport and just point it to the root of my recording directory tree.

But, since I've got the side-by-side .ts and .mp4 versions (for the Roku client), NextImport ended up importing all of the .mp4 files as additional recordings! Oopps, that's not what I intended. Big Grin Fortunately, I had made a backup of my database file, so not a big deal to fix.

Martin: Maybe you could add logic (either automatic or via a flag) to not import a .mp4 recording when the same .ts recording is already in the database.

Oh, and I guess also when importing, if there are both .ts and .mp4 versions of the same program, only import it once.

Yes I can change that.  Did it add proper meta data?

I didn't look that closely before I restored the backup. But then I reran it with just a specific folder of new items. That's when I found the problem with duplicate imports for new .ts and .mp4. I'll check the meta data after we get back from dinner.

I would say that, no, it didn't get proper meta data--or at least not all of it. Here are the contents of the recording .xml file:
Code:
<video xmlns="http://ensembleVideo.com/xmlSchemas/video">
  <metaData>
    <primaryTitle>Good Girls</primaryTitle>
The women take matters into their own hands; Beth meets Rio&apos;s boss, who is not what she expected; Annie secretly retakes the GED; Ruby encourages Stan to step up; Dean works through his trust issues.
    <subjectKeywords></subjectKeywords>
    <duration>01:06:00</duration>
    <dateProduced>2021-04-18T20:59:01</dateProduced>
    <copyright>KAREDT</copyright>
  </metaData>
</video>

The imports have the correct Title. And the Subtitle and Season/Episode came from somewhere (presumably the file name). But the description isn't there. The recording date also isn't correct. For this one, NextImport used 8/15/2021 at 10:39am which happens to be the create/modify date on the recording from when I copied it over this morning rather than the date from the XML file.

That is not the normal XML it is an alternative one set in config.xml.  I thought I supported it but maybe not.  I would turn off this option since it is a lousy back up

I thought it looked different. The 2 settings I've got on that system regarding XML are:
Code:
<StoreSeparateMetadataXml>true</StoreSeparateMetadataXml><StoreEnsembleMetadataXml>true</StoreEnsembleMetadataXml>

I'm pretty sure that I set StoreSeparateMetadataXml to true so that NextPVR would create a separate .xml file in additional to the ADS version (for portability).

I don't recall ever changing (or even knowing about) StoreEnsembleMetadataXml. Is that the setting you mean causes this format?

OK. I turned that off for future recordings.

I can't seem to find "NextImport". Does this allows you to import recordings made from other DVRs?
