I'd like to automatically copy recordings to a NAS when they're complete. Can anyone recommend a simple way of doing this on Windows 10? I'm running NextPVR v5.2.5

I've seen reference on this forum (a long time ago) to something called Supersimple Archiver, but haven't been able to track it down.

Why not record directly to the NAS?

Sorry I should have said....I did try that, but the recordings direct to NAS were all plagued with pixellation problems so I needed to revert to recording them locally. I guess it was a network latency issue.

Odd, I hope that copying during recording doesn't cause issues too, I have been recording to NAS even a crappy slow WD drive for 10 years and I haven't seen this. Writing a file should be well under 20Mbs and it will totally screw up the ability to watch in-progress.

I can't remember if sub implemented a method to archive via http if he did that would be the simplest way.

@itm2

I used to do something similar to this on my W10 machine. My method uses Robocopy (built in with Windows) along with a bat file. It didn't/doesn't move the recording immediately but I created a scheduled task to run nightly while I was sleeping so any recordings would be transferred automatically then. If I absolutely needed/wanted to move it sooner I could simply execute the bat file manually.

My NPVR recordings went to "R:\NPVR Recordings" and I moved them to my NAS "\\XigmaNAS\XigmaNAS\Media Folder\TV Recordings" I found I had to also create a "dummy" text file named "DoNotDelete" placed within the "R:\NPVR Recordings" folder or the RoboCopy command would delete the "R:\NPVR Recordings" folder as well. My bat file command looked as follows. Simply edit it to match your drive & NAS paths.

"C:\Windows\System32\robocopy.exe" "R:\NPVR Recordings" "\\XigmaNAS\XigmaNAS\Media Folder\TV Recordings" /E /MOVE /XF "DoNotDelete.txt"

I have since added a SSD drive to my NAS specifically for NPVR recordings and do not need to have recordings transferred any longer. I went with an SSD because I too experienced pixelated recordings on my NAS with a HDD but everything is great on the SSD.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion.
I've since read about the PostProcessing.bat option, but my initial attempt at using it to copy the recordings didn't succeed (I put the script in the NPVR scripts folder but it didn't seem to execute). Is this option now obsolete?

It'll still run C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts\PostProcessing.bat if it exists.

If you don't think it was run, post the logs showing a recording, and I'll confirm if it saw your batch file and tried to run it.

One complication to consider is that the recording service runs as the 'localsystem' account, which may not be able to get to your share.

Thanks. I attach the only log that was created since the last recording started ("Dickinsons Real Deal" at 3pm)...

...and I should have added that I have changed the NextPVR Service to login as my Windows user account, which has full write access to the NAS

The attempt to run postprocessing.bat would be in nrecord.log
