After upgrading to nextPVR  v6.0.0.220904 I have a problem. When watching a show I have recorded with NextPVR, the libreELEC nextPVR client suddenly stops playing.
I have found out that the problem occurs when my computer wants to go to sleep.

If I set Windows to go into sleepmode after 5 minutes of inactivity, I can play a recording for about 5 minutes before it is interrupted.
It seems like v6.0 isn’t keeping Windows alive when streaming the TV show to libreElec

I have been looking into the logfiles when the break event happens and in nrecord.log I see this:
2022-09-21 14:53:52.252 [DEBUG][3] [Suspend]
2022-09-21 14:53:52.253 [DEBUG][3] OnSleep...
2022-09-21 14:54:25.427 [DEBUG][23] Client has disconnected
2022-09-21 14:54:25.427 [DEBUG][23] Sent total of 327232800 bytes

My client is a raspberryPi 2 running libreELEC 9.2 with the latest NextPVR client. I have also tried libreELEC 10 and it has the same problem (libreELEC 10 has a lot of other problems when running on RaspberryPi 2)
The nextPVR client has the setting Wake On Lan enabled.
My Windows 64 bit version is 21H2 with the latest updates.

I have included the logs.

I talked about this problem with sub and he told me NextPVR never kept the PC awake during recordings so you need to check your streaming sleep settings

Hi Martin,
Thanks for answering so fast.

I assume that by ”NextPVR never kept the PC awake during recordings” you mean “while streaming recordings”?

The only change in my Windows configuration is that I replaced NextPVR v5 with NextPVR v6.

But you never know with Windows, so I checked if the setting “When Sharing Media prevent idling to sleep” was set. It was.
But to be completely sure I went into failsafe mode and made a new configuration with this option set. But it didn’t help.
Are there any other settings I should check?

Could it be that defaults concerning when a service is going to sleep has changed from .NET v5 to 6?
I think that NextPVR already reacts on Windows suspend and resume events. Has something changed from v5 to v6?

Just a longshot.

Usually disk activity is enough to keep a machine awake.

That said, the current version of NextPVR will actively try to keep a machine awake while streaming.

If you set <LogPowerManagement>true</LogPowerManagement> in the <General> section of config.xml, you should see regular "PowerManagement PreventStandby" log messages. This is effectively NextPVR telling the machine it's still in use, so don't go to sleep.

I have set LogPowerManagement to true as described. I have attached the logfiles so you can see if it is as expected. Search for this line in nrecord: 2022-09-23 10:11:45.146 [DEBUG][14] [Suspend]

As far as I can tell, NextPVR is telling Windows that the machine is still in use. It's not clear why Windows would still be choosing to go to sleep.

Maybe try updating NShared.dll to this version, and let me know if it helps.

Hi,
Thanks.
It seems to be working.
I have switched between the new and the old dll a couple of times with the same result.
Does it have any side effects eg. does it only keep the pc awake while streaming or recording which would be the ideal behaviour, or does it keep the pc awake as long the LibreELEC with the NextPVR client is turned on?

NextPVR always keeps a Windows PC awake during recording.

If you want your PC to sleep you can set up wol and restarting pvr.nextpvr will send a wol to your PC

If you don't have heavy recording demands or many clients the native LE server option might work for you.  It is not quite on the LE repo yet but it is very easy to install.
