So I'm attempting to upgrade from 4 to 6. Fortunately I cloned the hard drive before upgrading to 6, so it's not like I'm going to be losing anything.

So far NPVR 6 is a piece of crap. Cute interface, sure, but very unintuitive, having to constantly go back and forth between my old and new hard drives. And even there as I mimic settings between both I still can't get 6 to work properly.

I cannot locate any posts that help me to export and import all the recordings and their schedules from the previous version onto the new one. What needs to be done to make those upcoming/saved recordings/conflicts/what's new entries appear?

I'm also using a Hauppauge Colossus HD video recorder card with an IR blaster. The IR blaster works no problem on 4, but 6? Nope. I was able to download all the channels through Schedules Direct but I can't get NPVR to activate the blaster to change the channels.

This app has historically been pretty annoying. I miss the days of the old Snapstream BeyondTV.

Any ideas on this?

Did you try simply putting the npvr.db3 and config.xml files from your v4 directory in your v6 directory and starting up v6? This method of upgrading doesn't work for all tuner device types. But I believe that it would for Colossus.

Is your IR blaster executable in the same location (file path) for v6 and for v4?

That part worked.

If I'm not mistaken, are you referring to haupblast.exe? For v4, that is located in \Program Files (x86)\NPVR. For V6, that is located in \Program Files\NextPVR. So they don't appear to be the same.

Are there specific files within the v4 directory that have to be copied over to v6? Because haupblast.exe alone isn't making any impact at all.

You would need to edit your Colossus tuner device in v6 to have the new path to the blaster program.

See this wiki page for more info.

Folders changed after v4 so scripts will  have to be changed

I hate supporting users who crap on change.  No one forced you to upgrade from Beyond TV or v4.  NextPVR had to change to be multi platform it is not a question of cute it is necessity Microsoft still does not offer a GUI everywhere and even then some are headless

Windows forced me to change. Windows did. Upgrading from 7 to 10, from a 32 to a 64-bit system, and from there finding that Snapstream BeyondTV has been discontinued and it's latest release (over 10 years ago) isn't compatible with 64-bit OS versions or Windows 10. So I really had no choice. Don't blame me for hating on this change.

Insist on the program developers to do better, seriously.

What scripts are you referring to? They just can't be copied over from the old V4 to the new V6?

No because as part of the 64 bit upgrade Windows changed program folders too so tuning scripts need to be changed so you can't copy npvr.db3 So if you want to, crap on Microsoft and not NextPVR or sub the sole developer, who is one of the few developers who continue to progress from XP and Win 2k

These custom scripts.. You may not have any. But, if you do, then you need to review them to see if any paths need to be changed in them.

The HDPVR tuning script is in the database so channels have to be recreated or v4 folders need to be used, until they are changed
