Transcoding D3D11VA issues

Hi,

I am having strange issue with transcoding of video stream using D3D11VA turned on. When this is off, my imported m3u playlist, which consists of a single stream from a HDMI input source, works fine but for the TV channels from a USB TV tuner, I receive the error "Streaming Failed (transcoder exited)". If I set transcoding to use CPU, the USB TV channels work fine but the m3u stream gives the error "Streaming Failed (transcoder exited)". Is there any way to apply transcoder settings on a per tuner basis?

I cannot use the "Intel" option for transcoding because I am running NextPVR in a VM running Windows 10.

No for transcoding NextPVR is one size fits all. However you use an Extra to import from the HDMI grabber you can use whatever ffmpeg options you want and feed that into NextPVR as a ts stream which might not transcoding at all. Check the wiki https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Extras and there are other examples here on the forum.

Thanks for quick reply and I am well aware of re-encoding into another format but I can't understand why d3d11va works fine for the stream within the m3u file but not from USB TV tuner. Conversely, CPU transcode has opposite effect (USB TV tuner works fine but m3u fails).

The m3u file contains a h264 stream that was generated by ffmpeg and originated from HDMI capture.

Okay but that wasn't your question. When I look at the logs, I can see that NextPVR might be having trouble with the redirections in your m3u8 file since it is never transcoding the h264/aac stream. Can you run the grabber locally?

Yes I used Kodi as a client and all video streams play well. It was the web browser that can't handle certain codecs, I believe.

It's not the browser it is the requirement to use ffmpeg for transcoding or remuxing (for your grabber) Direct play clients are always better if you can use them.
I still think an extra might have done a better job.
