I wiped my new system and installed the latest release from scratch.

I scanned my satellite channels and selected those I wanted.
I did not select to update the EPG at that point as EPG source defaults to DVB/ATSC.

Went to the channel page and selected Auto Map. No option is available to select the Freesat EPG.
Used Auto Map to set all channels to EPG Source "None"

Went back to Auto Map however opting for Freesat EPG source is not present.

Manually sett all channels to Freesat EPG.

Went to About page and select Update EPG.
Results in immediate report of EPG Update complete [0 inserted, 0 updated, 0 skipped]

I'm also seeing the About page says Version 7.0.0.241006 (7.0.0.241105 is available for download)

The install was using the standard NPVRSetup.exe so should be current.

Did you scan using the standard 0282.ini file? If so, it should have defaulted to Freesat.

Make sure you don't have NPVR.zip with the installer and do a ctrl-f5 to refresh the browser.

Martin,

Well spotted, I'm sure there will be a zip file in the download directory left over from pre-release testing.
I'll remove and download release again.

Sub,

I used a reduced scan file so not the default 028.2 file. Is recognition of that file use hard coded?

I'll test the Epg update again after a clean install.

Ray.

That is the only ini that default to Freesat/OpenTV on Windows and with SAT>IP Can you select the EPG before scanning to avoid the None reset? (I don't have DVB-S to test)

Yes, because it has no way to know otherwise. This is the one satellite worldwide that uses this EPG system, so it's reasonably to hard code it.

Sub,

Suggestion. In the future could you make the file name for defaulting to Freesat a config.xml item rather than hard coded?
I suggest this because there will be many of us who reduce the 0282 ini file to only include those transponders we're interested in. (reduce a scan from 700+ channels down to say 100)

I give my ini file a different name to avoid it being overwritten on a NPVR update. It would be useful to put the name in a config item to cause it to default to the Freesat EPG. Or maybe add it as an extra to the 0282.ini trigger.

Isn't is just as easy to select Freesat before you scan as editing a config.xml file?

There are definitely issues with the data folder after sub moved it from the data directory in v5. Hint create a symlink in Windows or Linux to map to the data directory so you don't lose anything but the link.

I can confirm there was an old NPVR.zip file in the download directory hence the wrong version being installed.

Removed it and I now have the current release installed and can confirm use of the 0282 ini file does cause EPG source to default to Freesat.
I can also confirm Auto Map can be used to set all to Freesat EPG but only if the channel EPG sources are mapped to "None" first.

Thanks,

Ray
