After having two failures to record (figured out why, had nothing to do with NPVR), I visited and saw a new version.  I normally wait months to update to make sure the bugs are worked out, this time I didn't.  I have the issue others have posted that when I stop a recording, Resume takes me to the beginning.  I see that is being worked on.

The other issue I have is much bigger - when playing recorded shows, the audio and video is not close to being in synch.

I opened one show in VLC and it played perfectly.  I suspect the answer is going to be something like "you have to also update XXX and YYY".  If so, please provide instructions that a non-techy could follow.

Thank you.

For lack of information I assume you mean NextPVR.exe so did you confirm the LAV decoder is installed and configured and that the audio decoder is set to default?

Yes, NextPVR.exe.

LAV decoder has been installed for years.  Do I have to reinstall it when I update versions (haven't updated in over a year).

No, the audio decoder is set to LAV, as it has been for over a year (I changed nothing but applied the latest update earlier this week).

Video Decoders are all LAV Video Decoder.
Audio Decorders are all LAV Audio Decoder.
Box is check to Only use mapped audio decoders during playback.

I meant audio renderer not decoder, but no you shouldn't need to change anything there. Sub will need to look at it when you send your logs.

In any case in the meantime maybe try nlite or yauiclient Resume should work in them and they have roughly. the same UI.

I saw those terms in a post yesterday.  Where would I find the Nlite file to download it to my PC?  Found it, installing now.

I will post logs shortly, have to go to that PC to create them.

I'd have to do the same forum search as you.

Maybe you need to do this again https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid536994

Definitely yauiclient is better with subtitles but not as good with thumbnails.

Running those 3 commands did not fix the problems with Nextpvr.exe.

Nlite works fine, but right clicking doesn't bring up menu to play subtitles. I can do that with VLC, do I guess I will just wait for a fix on NextPVR.exe, doesn't make sense to use other apps if VLC works I don't think.

Additional info:

It appears that the playback issues are on recordings made with the prior version of NPVR. Watched news tonight and last night, both were fine. They were also watched while recording, whereas the problematic ones were watched days after recording.
