Hi All
Hoping for help please.
Encountering issues when attempting to view satellite channels which have apparently been scanned
Using a Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-S2 I can save channels and view shows Kaffeine (on the same machine using ubuntu 22.04 GUI.but running of a different microSD card). Did this to confirm sig from sat was OK
But when I revert to NextPVR on ubuntu server 22.04 booting from a different microSD, the PVR web interface loads OK on another m/c on my LAN.
I have successfully scanned and saved selection of 26 channels.
I can see them listed under settings_Channels
BUT
When I move channels on the top row, adjacent to NextPVR top left corner nothing is displayed.
and
When trying machine running KODI the TV menu shows channels listed as per web page but clicking on any one brings up a momentary play lozenge then fails to deliver

Ubuntu server running nextPVR is a recent fresh install - so too is NextPVR.
I note from the logs that my Schedules Direct membership is stated as expired "2024-01-03T20:01:43Z"
I renewed until Jan 24. plus I have double checked my Uname & PW
Logs uploaded.

My first thought is your Live TV directory isn't fully accessible for user nextpvr

/mnt/film/buffertvshows

I don't know what " When I move channels on the top row, adjacent to NextPVR top left corner nothing is displayed." means

I still have not managed to get nextpvr up and running again.
One thing I suspected might be causing problems was the fact I was using a separate P4 on my network as a server and in my ignorance had set users/groups & permissions up incorrectly (as per your response in https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=64465).
I have just done
1/. a completely fresh install of ubuntu 22.04 server + full update on MicroSD card in Pi4.
Followed by:
2/. installing the hauppauge firmware as described here:
https://www.hauppauge.com/pages/support/...ux.html#pi
3/. then nextpvr install following instructions to the letter here:
https://github.com/emveepee/Testing/wiki/nextpvr-helper
Including running the scripts under permission requirements.
then:
Logged into the web interface and to ran a scan on Astra 28.2E
The scan proceeded but no channels were found.
Swapped microSD card in Pi4 for a microSD card with 22.04 + hauppauge + Kaffeine. Good signals received.

What is proving intensely frustrating is that I had everything working great over Christmas and it was only by adding as second Hauppauge Nova-S2 and then trying to sort my already scanned and sorted TV channels into and order - ie most popular at the top of the list, that I lost everything- should’ve backed up.

Logs uploaded include a trail from the install of nextpvr. (copied from Mac terminal) just in case there’s something there.

Hoping you can help me get this working again.

Steve

The better guide for installation is on the official wiki https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/nextpvr-helper and not my test wiki, but that shouldn't make a difference.

I don't know enough about dvb-s but this line looks like it is missing something, sub will know better than I do.

2023-01-26 23:02:18:760 [INFO] Using LNBf:

A better test than Kaffeine for NextPVR purposes would be to try dvbv5-scan if you search the net you will find the instructions.

Also you might want to consider installing LE10 or LE11 on an SD card and seeing if LE provides different h/w support. The NextPVR services is available as a package, so not too hard to install and they have reasonable kernel support for some devices.

Hi Martin

Thank you.
Will give LE a try tonight.
Please could you give Sub a nudge to see if he has any thoughts.
Having confirmed a good signal with a satellite meter, my main reason for using Kaffeine was to confirm my “F” type cable connections were good.

Sub's been away so is catching up on things. Definitely look at dvbv5-scan on Ubuntu too to confirm that it is working outside NextPVR.

To get it working on Ubuntu you need to get dvbv5-scan working outside NextPVR. It could also be the scanning table, the one I use with LE/CE is from TVHeadend not from the Ubunute repo

Hi Martin
Now I am confused. Please can I clarify:
You state
"To get it working on Ubuntu you need to get dvbv5-scan working outside NextPVR. It could also be the scanning table, the one I use with LE/CE is from TVHeadend not from the Ubunute repo"

From the above:
I construe that: I MUST use dvbv5-scan first? As it is the only way I will create a channel list which will then get imported in to NextPVR (to populate the channel list).

So: The fact that I have been scanning my Nova-S2 from 'within' the nextPVR web interface is the reason I have been failing to find any channels.

Despite the fact I have had success with librelec I am minded to go back to 22.04 as I am now confronted with having to get my head around mounting my network shares using systemd - librelec does not appear to allow me to mount shares using fstab.

Thank you

Steve

Sorry to confuse you. What I was saying is if dvbv5-scan works then NextPVR should work. If it doesn't then you Ubuntu installation is not working properly. If it does then there is a NextPVR issue that we can investigate further.

IMO, creating shares in LE is easier than /etc/stab just create the storage file and follow the instructions here https://wiki.libreelec.tv/how-to/mount_network_share
