Display more Recordings metadata

Good day. 
I’m a new user of NextPVR in Windows.
I’ve managed to successfully install the software. Recordings and playback are fine.

I would like to see more of the metadata for my recordings and EPG.
I use Schedules Direct and I know there is more metadata like actors, producers, directors…
I do not see such information in the clients.
Is such information supported?

It depends on the client. NextPVR.exe and other UI clients, including the web based UI client, show that metadata on the details tab available with the left/right keys. Some metadata is also available in Kodi.

Thanks. I never noticed the chevrons/triangles in the EPG details. I guess I still have some things to learn.

1. Is there a similar facility for the show once it has been recorded? I don’t see a details pane with left and right buttons.

2. Perhaps I can also thank you and ask about NextTool and SageTV. I successfully used it to import all my SageTV recordings. Worked extremely well. I had only 3 shows out of almost 6K that had non-ASCII characters in their descriptions and caused the import to fail. After editing those descriptions it passed with flying colours. Does your utility also import similar metadata (actors, producers,…) from SageTV for those or only the year and description. Similar to item #1 I don’t see a way do view them.

It works for me on my recordings but in general I don't bother importing cast and crew with NextTool, unless you are coming from NextPVR based files. The way each PVR does it (if they do it at all) is quite different and it isn't key. Perhaps if NextPVR supported the role name for the actors I'd see more value in it, I am that interested I will probably just go to TVDB

If you still have the bad import file from sage I'd like to make NextTool hit 100%.

You are right. Recordings do have the extra metadata.

I edited the bad descriptions directly in SageTv so I don’t think I can give you a sample. I’ll modify the SageTv exported xml and inject some other binary value and see if it causes a failure. If it does I’ll update here.

I was lucky I still had a sample in Notepad++.
There was a hex 14, 0x14 in the description. It was a very old recording probably when Sage used zap2it (I think).

Not sure you want to worry about it other than to filter out or replace non-printable characters.

Thanks for checking. If there was a raw 0x14 in the XML output that would be SageTV bug and NextTool and other XML readers (you can try with Firefox) so I can't really address it.
