I bought a quad SAT>IP tuner several years ago but although NextPVR detects the tuners it will not “Tune” them. I now use them with TVheadend just to watch live TV.

After one of my PCi DVB-S2 tuners recently failed I setup a NextPVR test server to investigate the problem. With a clean install of Windows, NextPVR and EPG Collector which I use for the EPG, NextPVR is able to tune the SAT>IP tuners and finds all expected channels. However if I copy over the database from the live server the tuners no longer work so I return to using the new clean database. So that is one problem to investigate later but that file is many years old so may have gained some corruption so will work with the new file for now!

The EPG data is collected using EPG Collector to download the Freeview (DVB-T) and the dedicated Freesat EPG using the existing EPG Collector setup files from the live server. The only change made is that the Freesat.ini file is changed to use a specific SAT>IP tuner. If I run UpdateEPG.bat manually both EPG files are created. If I now click Update EPG at the bottom of the first Settings page UpdateEPG.bat runs but the Freesat EPG file is not created. NextPVR now starts scanning several DVB-T and DVB-S frequencies and says it has added almost 9000 EPG entries.

If UpdateEPG.bat is run in or by NextPVR the satellite scan fails with “No Tuner Found” error but the DVB-T scan works as normal! If I run updateEPG.bat the SAT>IP tuner is found and the Freesat EPG data file is created!

Reboot 16:18
16:22 Start Update EPG on main settings page.”Running UpdateEPG.bat”
New Freeview DVB-T file created but no Freesat DVB-S as tuner not found.
16:30 Starts scanning  several DVB-T and DVB-S frequencies
16:40 EPG Update complete
Logs of EPG Update enclosed!

I'm away at the moment, and only have my phone with me, so can't check the logs. Back in about a day and half. Bump the thread after that and I'll take a look.

I think the tuning information for SAT>IP is basically a url to the web server running on the device. Is the live server able to see that same ip address?

The good news is the next release has really good Freesat and OpenTV listings support, so you shouldn't need EPG Collector soon.

The usual reason for this is that something you're running doesn't like running under the 'localsystem' account. ie, EPG Collector might have configuration store under your normal desktop account, but when recording service runs UpdateEPG.bat, it can't find that configuration in the local system account, so crashes or gives an error message etc.

You could try changing the properties of the NextPVR Service, so that it runs under your account.

My suggestion would be to install the beta https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid589126 since that is the new direction for the FTA guide data The legacy code may no longer get maintained.

I'd also say try automapping everything to Freesat to see if you need EPG Collector. My gut says the issue with merging dvb-s dvb-t and xmltv source.

I have created a duplicate boot disk, uninstalled NextPVR then installed the Beta!

The important thing for me is the "programme ID" used to avoid duplicate recordings. Its broadcast in the format "SeriesID/ProgrammeID". The series ID is used by Freesat & Freeview recorders to find all item in the same series! I have a script which removes  the series ID from the xml file.

I cannot remember how it started but the script removes seriesID from the episode_numb line in the XML file. It also changes "system" from "crid" to "dd_progid" but this is going back many years so cannot remember the details!!

The Freesat and Freeview EPGs are not merged. There is a difference in channels on the two platforms so some use the Freesat EPG and some use the Freeview EPG.

Downloaded the new version but no install!! Now got it running and installed the cut down 28.2.ini file for my local region. Scan with SAT>IP tuner 1

Kept 37 channels after the scan. Automap all channels to Freesat

Click on Update EPG. Starts Satellite frequencies scan one of which is the Freesat transponder. Zero EPG entries inserted!

I suggest you read through this. Sub manager to implement integrated EPG for Freesat and Sky OpenTV EPG using the findings here. The tuner used here were the Digibit Twin and the Hauppauge Nova HD S2 pci card under Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and Windows 10.

If you haven’t used your Digibit R1 in a while you may want to check if there is a firmware update you haven’t installed. Also are you using the stock or the minisat/Ip version which may be causing you problems too.

For the uniqueid sub kept the same crid logic for Freesat and dvb-t when available and it used it's custom format for s/e logic otherwise. Perhaps an option for just the custom format is required for those that don't like the crid or want the same logic for duplicates between opentv and Freesat guides

Logs are important at this point. Don't worry about the two guide frequencies those will be automatically added.
