I'm getting corrupted recordings on one channel (CBS).    It's not every recording, but very frequent.  No issues with other channels as far as I recall.  These are scheduled recordings.

NextPVR 6.1.5.231022 on Windows
Kodi clients 20.5 and 18.5

The recording seems to complete successfully and the indicated runtime looks correct.  I can start playback with no issues.  But any attempt to jump ahead takes me to the last few minutes of the recording (and the progress bar behaves erratically, not corresponding with the end of the recording).  If I play from the beginning without jumping ahead, only the first few minutes play and then it freezes.

The .ts file sizes are much smaller than what they should be.  (Both NCIS episodes should be ~3.5GB, but they're only ~500MB).  As far as I can tell, the recordings only actually contain a small portion of the beginning and end of the show.

Playing the shows in the NextPVR web interface gives similar behavior.

Here are four examples to examine in the log:
NCIS    3/25 and 3/11
CBS 21 News at 11    3/26 and 3/27

Thanks!

I'm guessing it has signal strength issues with CBS.

I'd start a recording CBS (rather than live tv, so that it goes to the same device), then maybe checkout the reported signal status in the HDHomeRun web app.

I can't tell for sure but as BDA drivers are being use you might need to use the Silicondust app and not the web to check the signal strength on legacy devices

Thanks, sub and Martin

I should have mentioned, that channel has excellent reception.  HDHR has been consistently reporting 100% signal strength, signal quality, and symbol quality.  That fits with the strong rabbitears.info report for that channel.  My other channels have generally good signals, but not as clean as this one.  One or two might infrequently drop pixels but that's never resulted in the entire file being corrupted like this.

I just started a recording and confirmed those same percentages in the HDHR web app.  I'll check the recording when its complete to see what I get.

(not sure about the BDA drivers thing,  but I was able to view the signal meters in both the web and the HDHR config gui.)

100% might means you might have signal overload which is as bad as a bad signal. If you have a booster remove it. Could be LTE interference too. Best to post on the Silicondust forum, provide your device ID and they can check what it is seeing internally.

Any reason you use BDA (ATSC) mode and not HDHR, http providers better reliability.

If you want to provide a sample recording, I’ll check for clues in the file.

Thanks for all the great feedback.

I tried to attach a sample recording under the 256MB limit, but the system didn't seem to accept it.

As far as BDA(ATSC) vs HDHR, that's honestly just my lack of knowledge about those.  I just poked around in the device setup and see what you're referring to.  I think I setup ATSC simply because I recognized that as my OTA signal type.  I'm happy to setup HDHR channels and delete the ATSC channels.

Good to know about the signal overload issue.  No booster, just a passive antenna.  Sounds like a few possible things for me to chase down.  Regarding a next step, want me to dump the ATSC channels and setup HDHR, then run some recordings and see if the problem is resolved?

You need to PM links to big files If you don't like Google Drive or OneDrive try filetransfer.io

I could try HDHR mode for CBS and see if it helps, you might have UDP issues, I suspect not.

As Martin said above, you'd need to put a recording somewhere like onedrive or googledrive, and let us know the download link. The full failed recording is what I'd want to see.
