Uidroid and smooth FF/RW?

I'm assuming the "<FFRWBehaviour>Fast Play</FFRWBehaviour>" in my config.xml should allow a  smooth FF/RW? I'm playing with recordings through my generic Android TV box and I can only seem to get skip style forward/backward jumps. Should it work?

Recordings are in .ts format.

Your assumption is actually wrong, this never was implemented for the UI client API or on the NMT before that and there are many practical reasons why this can be problematic especially with a server based UI like UI clients. Sub largely addressed this with thumbnail skipping which really has replaced VCR like FF/RW (that was easier with analog recordings) in most commercial apps.

Personally I still prefer number skipping and of course comskip so I don't skip often in my recordings.

If you want FF/RW it is available for testing in Kodi. My alternative yauiclient UI client for Windows does offer speed up but I find it better for playing at 1.1 or 1.2x to watch shows faster then for FF.

lol - I had a feeling you might say something like that.

I remember providing smooth FF/RW was an issue especially for a UI client like the PCH but it has been so long since I used my old rig I'm struggling to remember how it worked.

I know we've been spoilt by the VM TiVo that comes with our cable contract - the right/left buttons on the D pad allow FF/RW as a fast play - press once, twice or three times and get x2, x4, x8 playback.

I had also thought about comskip but wasn't sure if it would work with linux.

Thanks, I was looking at the github repo what was needed to build it. I haven't had to build much recently so I'm a bit rusty.
