Hi all,

the ComSkip manual states: "Comskip is automatically started by GB-PVR when a recording is done if it finds the Comskip.exe." However, I can't get it to work this way. I have managed to run it manually file-by-file, but I was hoping this automatic processing was really available... any suggestions?

Thanks!
Alex

Hey Alex,
You may have installed a plugin that has created a file in
Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\ called PostProcessing.bat

If that bat file is present then edit it and make sure that

comskip %1

is the first entry.

I think (and correct me if I am wrong) that earlier versions of
xrecord / fastfind created this bat file but did not include the
comskip command.

If that bat file is not there, then I don't know what else it may be.

My Setup:
Windows Server 2003 SP1 on AMD XP2200+, 1 Gig DDR Ram, 1 x 200 Gig and 1 x 160 Gig Seagate Harddrives, Hauppauge PVR500MCE
2 x Hauppauge MVP's (Bedroom and Lounge)

I have just installed COMSKIP yesterday, and it work well for me, and it engages automatically.

Once the recording is complete, it creates two text files that it needs to find the frame where the commercial has started and stopped. I used Haupauge Remote Control to hit key 0 and then skip, and it skips the commercial to recordings.

This is still not the perfect system since it is very important that your recording bookmark should start when your program starts. If not, you will end up skipping the content and not the commercial.

I have not seen any plugins that will remove the commercial from the recorded file, and gives you the finish file.

Hi Ted, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately I don't have the PostProcessing.bat file... do you know which plugin installs it?

Alex
You could try creating a postprocessing.bat with
comskip %1
as the only entry.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.
