Nova-t USB2 problems

Hi there,

I am trying to get a Hauppage Nova-t USB DVB-T device to work with gbpvr.

I've tried using both the latest version and version 9010 and neither will work correctly. Using the older version, i tried installing the newer version, copying out the BDA folder and bda.ini files and adding them into a fresh installation of the 9010 version, as suggested on these forums, and now the channel search just jams on Scanning 1 of 57.

If i use the newer version, it scans the whole length, and The Hits and Sky News appear in the preview box during the scan, but at the end it reports no channels detected. I have installed the mpgmux.dll using regsvr32, and that removed the multiplexor error, but i'm still not getting anywhere!

I have the latest (version 1.3) hauppage driver for the box installed too, and i can watch tv thru the hauppage wintv application just fine.

Can anyone help me???

I can't help specifically as I don't have one of these boxes but...

Looking at change log entries for GB-PVR, I think the Nova-t USB2 wasn't supported before 0.91.7 so using 0.90.10 won't do you any good.

The latest drivers for the box are actually v2 I believe - see the Hauppauge Digital Terrestrial forum for download link (they don't appear on the Hauppauge Support pages).

Ok i have tried upgrading to the latest Hauppauge driver from the forum, and the latest version of GB-PVR but i'm still getting the same - no channels found during scan - despite the fact it shows Sky News and The Hits in the preview window whilst it's scanning!

Can anyone help!?

I've now tried all 3 different types of muxer - Cyberlink, Intervideo (no channels found on either), and Showshifter (just jams the config app on scanning).

I have now tried upgrading to the latest 9208 release, and i'm still getting the same channel tuning problem. I have now found out which transmitter i'm on (wenvoe) and i have selected this in the setup, and when it scans it still shows sky news and then the hits in the preview window despite not finding any channels, but The Hits remains shown until the box is closed, playing just fine!

Is there any way I can tune it and map the channels manually? I've looked through the config native log and can't see any errors.

Any advice?

Those signal strength and quality values look pretty low, other than that I cant see anything obviously wrong.

Yeh the signal here is not fabulous, but the WinTV application finds the channels ok. Is there some kind of signal strength threshold for recognising channels? Can it be adjusted at all?

I have exactly the same problem but with a Nova-T 909 - it will scan, I see Sky News and the Hits in the preview but no channels get picked up in the tuning pane.

I have the latest BDA drivers but I find this is problem only with versions 91.xx + if I revert back to 90.10 all channels tune just fine. FYI I just tried 92.xx in hopes that it might now work but no go - so it's roll back to 90.10 again :-(

Looking at BDA.ini on 90.10 it has the same MPEG2 Transport settings as 92.xx - so it's not just the ConnectionPins issue that others have seen.

But it must surely be something straightforward if 90.10 works?
