Hey,

I was watching ANOTHER Cops marathon today and realized that my girlfriend would like to watch them as well. As I was watching it 'live', I never thought to set GBPVR to record them.

If I look on my temp folder on my hard drive, I can see that there is an enormous .mpg file which has all the live stuff in it, but if I do anything in GBPVR it gets deleted.

Is there a way to save a live tv stream so that I can view it later without having to first set up GBPVR to record? And even better, can I do it from the GBPVR interface without having to go to my computer (I'm using an MVP on my tv in another room).

Take care,

Nick

push the "record" button whilst in timeshift mode (wont work in live preview, well the recording will start when you push record) and gbpvr wont delete the temp file, instead it will save the file (in the temp directory) and put a reference to it in the "recordings" screen. (so you can play it from the recordings screen. if you push stop while recording it will stop the recording aswell as exit live tv.

Hey,

Thanks for the quick response.

Do I have to rewind to the very beginning of the time shifted file, hit 'record', and GBPVR will in essence 'rerecord' the recorded file from the point at which I hit record? And if so, if I try to watch something else, be it live tv or a different pre-recorded file, will the recording of the timeshifted file stop?

Take care,

nah just hit record and it will save the file (since gbpvr is just playing that file then deleting it, it just skips the deleting part)

if you exit live tv, the recording will stop, so yes it will stop if you change channels, exit to watch a pre recorded file or just exit live tv.

Hey,

Thank you very much for the answer to the first part of my question. I think it answers the second part of my question: if I hit record, it will save the already recorded mpg file that GBPVR is streaming to the MVP instead of deleting it.

As for moving out of live tv and it stopping the recording, I think that as long as what I've already watched gets saved by hitting the record button, it makes sense that recording will stop.

Take care

yeah when you exit live tv (recording tv) the recording will stop there, it will keep what you have recorded so far, and put that in the "recordings" screen. just do it and see.
