Man I'm getting sick of responding to this question....

The default quality is always the 'Medium/Default' profile. If you want to change the default, then edit the medium profile and set it to whatever bitrate/resolution you want to use.

Default Medium setting is stubborn
I have found that the Medium (Default) setting will not change. You can set it to CBR and 3000 and in the config it says it's changed but it will record using the VBR default settings for Medium. The High and Low setting will record as you set them but the medium does what it wants.

My Medium (default) took my change just fine. Changed it from CBR to VBR 5500-8500, same thing I did on my old PVR box.

The only situation I know of when it wont take, is with some ATI 550 Pro and its clones. For some users of these cards, the drivers for these card just ignore requests to change bitrate.

All,
I will have to agree with there being a problem on this on. I can edit the medium(default) setting in the config program, and the settings are saved just fine. However, they seem to be ignored when it comes time to actually record something.

I read another post somewhere in this form that mentioned editing the direct.ini file. I did this, and the recording settings worked perfectly. There seems to be a disconnect between the config program and the files actually used diring recording. Perhaps reven or sub could shed some light on how this actually works?

Once you get your settings working, it's not a big deal since I don't change them very often. But it would be nice to see what your settings are in the config program, and also to have them used if you change them.

Please don't get offended at my comments. I love the program! I'm only trying to help make it better.

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I'm using a Hauppauge 350 card with 92.11.

Thanks!

The settings shown in the config program are read from direct.ini and saved to direct.ini
