ATI TV Wonder ELite - I'm Still Confused

I am new here and really admire what gbpvr is doing. I've had my ATI TV Wonder Elite for a few months but its still in its unopened package until I can find a software with an electonic program guide for scheduling TV recording. Recent threads here seem to indicate that the gbpvr software now works with the TV Wonder ELite. But other threads say that there is no sound when the Elite is used with gbpvr. So I still am not sure if I should finally unpack the ATI and download gbpvr to use with it, or keep waiting. I just want a decent program guide to interface witht the TV Wonder Elite

I'm not aware of any issue resulting in no sound on the ATI TV Wonder Elite. There was one guy in Hungary who was getting no sound, but updated drivers fixed his problem.

Wow, you are fast! Ok, just to be sure, this is from the thread I was talking about between Peakpc and yourself on 4/2/05 in the Hardware Forum (ATI TV Wonder On Sound). Not sure if this is the person from Hungary. Sorry, I haven't yet figured out how to use the Quote funtion to copy a thread from one forum topic to my own forum topic. --

Neither Media Portal or BeyondTV produce any sound for me on my 550 Pro. I'm sure ATI have either sent me a lemon or its in some way (drivers, hardware) not compatible with our PAL B/G sound system. Unfortunate really, because I'm sure many users would take the heat of ATI's crap software if there were decent free alternatives like GB-PVR.

This was a post by me before ATI supplied drivers that worked with out PAL Nicam sound system used here in New Zealand.

I didn't know about GBPVR prior to getting the card. But since the ATI TV Wonder Elite uses the Theater 550 Pro Video Processor, I am assuming that it is supported, right? Also, from reading past threads (see quote below) it seems that there shouldn't be any problems. :confused: Oh, BTW, I got the Elite (retail about $145.00) FREE from Dell when I complained to them that it should have been included with the Media Center Edition Computer I bought from them. So thats how I ended up with that card.
