Install issue: remote function

I've got GBPVR installed fine, ran through all the settings preferences to get my PVR-350 working, but I can't seem to get the Hauppage Remote to work at all. I left the Default (Hauppage) setting in Config under the Misc tab for "Remote Control Type" and then even tried checking the "Use direct access..." box since I don't see IR.EXE running as a task.

Should I see something in device manager indicating that the IR hardware is recognized? I downloaded the latest drivers from Hauppage when installing just now... didn't even use the CD that came with it. Everything else is working fine with channel detection and playback through the PVR-350's video out.

Just a thought, the Hauppauge remote receiver is a fidgety thing that is not great at receiving, make sure it's in clear view and facing the right way round. Also, when you're in GB-PVR, try pressing the Yellow button, and try then, then try all the colour buttons and try after that.. don't know how or why but that fixed it for me!

Thanks for the tip joshley... I tried that (after I installed the "IR" program from Hauppage's web site - duh) and when I press the colored buttons, one of them brings up WinTV from Hauppage, not GBPVR... so I exited that.  I left GBPVR running and gave it the focus as the front application running on screen.  When I press "Menu" on the remote, it does pop up the dialog that "shutting down the MediaMVP Server will ...."

Also, when I press the yellow button, I get the dialog "Application not found" with the dialog window titled "..\vtplus\vtplus.exe"


Any ideas?

You must install GB-PVR after the hauppauge remote software. Other wise the settings for GB-PVR will be blown away by the Hauppauge software. Reinstall GB-PVR and it will install the settings again.

I uninstalled GB-PVR and then reinstalled it. Still no go. Same symptoms as I described in my post prior to yours, sub. Has this vtplus.exe program got anything to do with GB-PVR?

If you open the hauppauge irremote.ini file, does it contain a section for all the GB-PVR settings?

ir.exe uses these settings to determine what it should send to the active application, if its title is 'GB-PVR'

FYI, I don't think you can use the remote to launch GB-PVR from Windows by default.  I had to add a line to the irremote.ini file to map a button (blue in my case) to launch the GB-PVR executable from my desktop.

When you launch GB-PVR using your mouse, does the remote work within the program?

When I execute GBPVR by mouse, the remote does not work. I verified that the INI file has the exact text above and still no joy. My ini file is in much different order than listed above, so I even tried moving the [Applications] section to the top of the file. The remote still gives that application not found message when I press the Yellow button and it launches Win2000 when I press the Red button. ??
