I have recently installed GBPVR. Love it. Use it with MVP.

For the weather plug-in, I can add zip codes using the Config settings, and the forecasts and weather are downloaded and display fine.

But when I select "Add" on either the MVP or on the PC I just get the "downloading... this may take a while..." message box.

I have retried several times in the past couple days.

I have cable broadband and have waited hours (upto 6). It just remains hung at the message box.

How long should it take?
Any suggestions why it wouldn't be working?

I was wondering when someone was going to notice this. MSNBC changed the layout of their web page recently. I am not sure when, but I just noticed this a few days ago. I have rewritten the plug-in to parse the new page format so that the adding of locations will work again. One side-effect of their new layout is that they no longer list as many locations for each country and US state as the used to. It is now something like 30 locations per area where it used to sometimes be over a hundred.

I will post the update in a few days after I finish testing it. As long as I was updating the code, I have made the updates people have been asking for for SI Units display and I have enhanced the map display to show animated weather maps.

Yep, I noticed this too. I'm currently on vacation (Philly-Baltimore-DC), and wanted to add some locales in. BTW It is DAMN HOT here!!! just about 100F, and 'feels like' temp about 110F. It is supposed to drop 20F-30F tomorrow night.
I LOVE GBPVR's web ability! I checked and yet another 007 file is recording.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)

Updated weather plug-in posted to the new wiki site.

The following changes have been made:

* Updated the code used to add new locations to handle the revised format of the MSNBC web pages

* Changed some of the units when displaying things in SI units

* Enhanced the map display to show animated weather maps, if available

Jeff, is it possible that that my current weather is not updating properly? It is showing July 25 2005, as current. Animated maps are awesome, and was able to add a few cities with no problems, only thing is they are all showing the old update from Monday the 25th along with forecast starting from the monday.

could be my end, ill poke around a bit more Smile

thnx again

I just noticed that tonight too. I live in California so our weather is all the same right now so I hadn't noticed until tonight. I have checked and I thin kMSNBC has stopped returning current data via the mechanism used by the weather plug-in. This part of the plug-in code goes back to the very first version written by CodeMonkey. I don't know if this is a tempprary glitch at MSNBC or if they have shut it off for good. In any event, I have statred to work on an update tonight that pulls the weather directly from the human-readable web page. I have gootten most of the current conditions part to work. I will probably not have everything updated for a few more days.

I have noticed this too and was just about to ask about this.

Hope you can get it working.
