I've noticed that my EPG had slowly become corrupted, with lots of 'To be announced' in todays listings, programs being recorded slightly off-time & length, films split over a couple of entries etc.

I tried updating the EPG manually a couple of times (both by right clicking on the recording service icon & through the config) however this made no changes to the EPG with GBPVR.

I checked within the XML file and the times/listings in question that were corrupted in GBPVR were fine in the XML file. The only way I could get the listings in GBPVR to display correctly was to empty the EPG first.

I'm not sure if this is reproduceable, I'll see what happens over time from now on.

I think corruption's a bit strong a word for it! This happens alot with the data from the radio times xmltv feed, I guess when you download data for a couple of weeks in advance when the schedules haven't been quite firmed up yet.

When you checked the XML file, you'd already downloaded the corrections/updates to the schedule, trouble is once EPG data is entered into GBPVR it will not get updated, so you'll be stuck with the "To Be Announced" programs.

If you are indeed using the UK radio times grabber, I recommend using Alan Birtles' graber utility, whch you can download from here. This has an option to ignore the tba slots and leave them blank - this way GBPVR will populate it when the xml has been updated.

If you're not using the radio times grabber, let us know which one you are using and perhaps someone else using it can offer some suggestions.

OK that makes sense for the TBA programs, but what about when a scheduled program changes.

If the EPG in GBPVR already has a program and it just moved time a little etc. does GBPVR update the EPG in those situations?

I don't think it does.

This post by bgowland gives another workaround.

Thanks for that, that combined with Alan Birtles' grabber should be enough for now.

And sub said this:

This appears in the last line of the following post:

I just faced this problem with NBC changing the programming sometime in the past 2 weeks... I missed a "scrubs" episode, which is no big deal cause I had seen it already.

However I got some questions about this...
1) is it possible to control the amount of days of EPG data that GBPVR is downloading from Zap2It?
2) if there is a way, what would be the problem in getting let's say only 3 days of programming instead of what it is now
3) if that doesn't work, what would be the problem(s) in emptying the EPG every day and re-downloading it? or maybe just emptying it with "gbpvr -onlyemptyepg" every day 5 minutes before the scheduled EPG download?
