I am currently unable to disable captioning in DVD's. I have tried many DVD's and all of them are displaying English captioning. I can turn on/off the DVD subtitles and switch the subtitle language but the captioning is separate and it is always English and always visible no matter what I do. I have unchecked the checkbox in the Misc tab for "Show closed captions" and it doesn't make any difference. I'm pretty sure I broke it somehow but I have no idea how. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded to the 0.93.10 yesterday and first noticed this problem. I uninstalled and went back to 0.92.11 and the problem is still there. Not sure what I have done to cause this.

I have attached a picture of the problem.

Thanks,

Kyle

Strangely they look nothing like the subtitles I get when I enable them on a DVD...

What DVD Navigator are you using?

I am using the default DVD Navigator.

When I enable subtitles on the DVD they show up behind this text. They didn't show up in the screen capture.

I was trying to use the Intervideo Navigator earlier until my Trial WinDVD expired. GB-PVR was crashing when trying to use it. I assume it was because it was expired. I removed all traces of WinDVD after that. Is there a setting "stuck" ?

Thanks,

If you press the green key (Ctrl-G), it should toggle the subtitles. Does it?

Yes. It cycles through the different languages. The other captioning is always English and unaffected.

I think this closed captioning is being generated by some other software. Maybe ffdshow or similar is installed on your machine?

I think I have it fixed. I installed PowerDVD6 and chose it as the navigator. It refused to play DVD's. When I switched back to the default DVD Navigator it appears to be fixed.

I definitely have too much stuff on my computer that shouldn't be there. I am experimenting with everything so I can get it just right when I build a PVR for the entertainment system. Everything has to be just right before I can seek approval from the wife Smile .

Thank you for your very quick help. I didn't think it was a problem with GB-PVR but I didn't know what else to do.

Thank you very much,

and once more I just want you to know awesome GB-PVR is.
