I'm trying to do a back to back comparison of 2 digital twin tuners (Nova T 500 and Terratec 2400) to see if either is better for channel change speed, quality and effect on MVP stability. Is there an easy way to temporarily turn off one of the tuners without deleting it from the capure sources list?

I tried chnaging the order of the capture sources but config seems to forget the order, this could be another way of doing it if I can fix it.

ok, just found this which explains why the ordering isn't working:

But I would still like to disable a tuner temporarily because when I am comparing I have to change the aerial lead over, which means I have capture sources in the list with no aerial feed, and I dont want to loose a recording whilst I am playing.

sorry the only way you can disable a tuner temporarily is to disable each of the channels assigned to the source.

When I'm testing different tuners and want to force a tuner to use I set up a different channel name on each tuner, but give them the same tuning details. Then from the epg I can pick and choose. e.g. BBC1 Nova and BBC1 kworld

martint123, I tried that but GBPVR seems to be too clever and recognises that 2 different channel names are pointing at the same tuning request.

e.g. I set up BBC1 and then tBBC1 and I loose the BBC1 as soon as I ok from config.

I'm not sure but maybee you were comparing an analogue card to digital where the tuning requests would be different.

Never mind I've fixed the capture source priority so i'll use that.

I've just done it on my main server and it worked.

config tuner1. Add a dummy channel "bbc1 tuner1". Map channels and map local BBC1 to that name. OK. Do the same for a new channel for tuner2. Exit config and gbpvr shows the two channels on the epg. Watch each "live" and the status shows tuner 1 and then tuner 2 in use. Both the above on two halves of a nova-t-500. The tuning requests are identical.
