You guys have probably been thru this before....I have seen it before...it comes and goes, but its here to stay now. Some of my MPEGS "skip" or play back "jerky" on my MVP...using either the Hauppauge software or the GBP. These are files that played fine before. I was having the problem without the GBP code - so I decide to try it - but I get the same result. I have a feeling its something happening on the network because (a) I have seen other comments to that effect (b) I can find any evidence its caused by other programs running on my PC or the disks or the particular file.

How do I troubleshoot this? There is nothing else going on on my home network. If I take it down to my PC and MEdiaMVP, I suspect I will see the problem.

Plus, this is something that used to work fine.....it just started cropping up about a month ago. I was also using "old" Hauppauge code. I now have the new code....same problem. I also have a new HDD and new WinXP install. The only thing I havent done yet is let MS upgrade the OS over the net.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. With my new HDD load, I figured I would give the GBP stuff a try again. Last time I tried I couldnt get the EPG to work so I stuck with the WinTV/TitanTV stuff. Of course then, my MVP was playing back fine!

I know the network port on the MVP is supposed to be quite picky, and often drops back to 10Mbps (or half duplex or something - cant remember exactly). I cant remember the exact circumstances, but often people have solved it by using a standalone network adapter as opposed to the one on their motherboard, or bypassing a router. I think its been discussed on shspvr.com in the past.

Well, I think my setup was in a "funk". Its working again. I might have spotted the problem...I have port forwarding setup to a fixed IP. That IP was probably wrong given all the reboots/reconfigs lately and maybe the DCHP server gave that IP to the MVP.
I noticed the MVP booted ALOT faster than usual.
I used to have a way to see the MVP IP address, but I forget....it doesnt show in the Linksys Router DHCP table - I wonder why.
