Hi there,

My brand new MVP arrived today ! Smile

aaahh.. the smell of new toys....

Anyway, I decided to use a wire instead of wifi and in no time, got my MVP all set up...

After initial testing, my issues:

(1) I can't seem to skip forward on a TV recording (BDA card). My skip fwd is set to 3 mins. Everytime I press the skip fwd, all i get is a blank screen, and i have to reset the MVP unit.
Using the Hauppauge software, I can happily skip fwd and back with no problems.

(2) I have got 2 TV - first TV is getting the video from my PC (MVP server) 's TV out port. Second TV is via the MVP.
Is this an OK setup?
Reason I ask is coz I am using HIP to bring up GBPVR on my first TV.
But if MVP is already running a GBPVR instance, HIP tries to bring up the already running GBPVR instance - which is incorrect. What I need to happen is for HIP to ignore the first instance of GBPVR (for MVP), and start up a second GBPVR.
Can anyone think of a workaround?

(3) Divx files
I have tried to follow that long running "MVP and AVIs" thread Smile
So not wanting to revisit it all, are there any common tips that I could use to improve Divx playback?
I find that I can't play certain divx files (the others were OK).

What version of the hauppauge MVP software are you running? How did you stop the Hauppauge software before starting GB-PVR on the MVP. Some people have tried manually stopping one of the two hauppauge services, and it results in behaviour similar to this.

Yes thats fine.

Sorry, I dont know anything about HIP. When the MVP servers are already running, you can start another instance of GB-PVR for viewing via your PC.

I cant tell you anything more than is contained in that thread. If it doesnt play for you, then its most likely caused by the combination of codecs installed on your machine.

thanks for the response Sub Smile

you're a genius mate... ya, i was trying to disable just the MVP Media service.. and leave the other one running..
i will disable both MVP services tonight - as per conventional wisdom - and see how it goess...

who knows.. it might even fix the divx issue Smile

thanks again!

Hi again Sub,

>Sorry, I dont know anything about HIP. When the MVP servers are already running, >you can start another instance of GB-PVR for viewing via your PC.

So with the new 'singleton' feature in build 09310, how are ppl getting multiple GBPVR instances to run on their machines?
Coz I am thinking this is the feature that is causing my problem(?).
i.e, when i try and run a local instance of GBPVR on my PC, the 'singleton' feature kicks in and brings up the MVP-instance instead.

lol.. perf Smile tat's no fair.. you're not meant to respond with another question! Big Grin

HIP's something like girder - i think its free for personal use.. and there are plugins existing for MCE remote,etc...

I've got the MCE remote and had mapped the Green button to start up or bring up GBPVR on my PC..
unfortunately now that i have another MVP-instance of GBPVR, HIP is incorrectly bring up both my PC-instance and the MVP-instance... so I end up having application focus on the MVP-instance instead of my PC-instance Sad

sorry for the lousy explanation.. its difficult to explain Smile

The MVP instances dont do the singleton logic, so it sounds like your HIP software is trying to be smart but not getting it right.

Hey Sub,

After some testing, I am not too sure that's HIP that's bringing up the MVP-instance of GBPVR.

In fact, can you try this for me on your setup ?

(1) Ensure that there is a MVP-instance of GBPVR already running
(2) Ensure there is a PC-instance of GBPVR already running (with -topmost and fullscreen)
(3) In a command prompt at "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr",
run "GBPVR.exe -topmost"

Check that:
(A) The existing PC-instance is brought up as expected
(B) BUT you can't use your keyboard arrow keys to navigate.
© To navigate, you have to left click on the GBPVR screen - and then you
can navigate using the arrow keys
(D) If you shutdown, you see that the MVP-instance was ALSO brought up as a window by your prompt command in (3) and this is what took away the application focus from the PC-instance in (B).

If you also find that you have the same results as me, my question would be :

Why does bringing up an existing PC-instance also bring up the MVP-instance when calling "GBPVR.exe -topmost" ?
esp. since the MVP-instance doesn't run the singleton logic?

I did this except I couldnt do it fullscreen. I've only got one monitor, and when I do it fullscreen and topmost I couldnt see the command prompt or Start->Run menu option to run step 3 (since it was in the foreground and filling the screen)

For me the MVP instance stayed minimized and it correctly brought the existing PC instance to the foreground. The arrow keys seem to be working fine. Everything here seemed to behave as I expected.

It doesnt for me.

Why are you using -topmost? This implies the window is visible in the foreground, but doesnt necessarily mean the window has focus. This was added for people that wan to run it in a small window in the corner of the desktop while using some other app. It isnt intended to ensure GB-PVR as focus.
