In the system tray of my windows XP screen there is an icon for the wireless connection. Anytime the connection changes strengh or is lost and re-connected an annoying baloon pops up with the status of the network....

It comes up over GBPVR and is very annoying becuase I have to use a mouse to re-focus GB. Anyone know how to disable this (and other) windows XP baloons?

Thanks!

This might work.
right click on "My Network Places"
select "properties"
highlight the wireless connection and right click and select "properties"
near the bottom there should be 2 check boxes that say
show icon in notification area
and
notify me when this connection has limited connectivity
I'd just uncheck both and see if that works.

to disable _all_ ballon-style popups:

open the registry editor (start --> run --> type 'regedit32.exe' without the quotes --> ok)

go to the 'directory' HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Explorer\Advanced

look if there is a value called 'EnableBalloonTips'. if not, create a DWORD value called this name.

set the value of EnableBalloonTips to 0
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
