I am trying to install .238 on Win XP Pro Service Pack 1. I have tried on 2 computers that have previously worked with past versions of GBPVR and the Hauppauge software. So I am installing and I get an error message that says "Error 1904 C\.....MSADO14.dll failed to register. Hresult 2147024769 Contact support personel. I have tried to reinstall the Hauppauge software, their current beta, and it works fine. I tried uninstalling the old versions of GBPVR also. Anyway the net result is that the MVP will not make a connection the the server and I cannot contact the server using program files/ gbpvr/gbpvr either.

I also tried just ignoring in the install like it said in a previous post, that didn't work either.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Javalina

You can safely ignore the message on XP, you must be seeing something else.

Does the Config app run?

Have you added a capture source?

Ignoring the MVP, does GB-PVR start on your PC desktop? If so, then its likely the MVP is experiencing difficulties with firewall software or something similar.

If it doesnt start on the PC, can you try to start it, then email all the logs from c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr to me at support@devnz.com?

Sub told me to do this via email.
--------
If you go into the control panel -> administrative tools -> services, then
try to start the "GB-PVR Recording Service" what happens? Does it give you
an error message?

The error message below almost looks like the recording service is not
installed, or some critical files are missing. You may need to
uninstall/reinstall.
----------

Javalina replied

---------

I went to the control panel and the  error message I got back was Error 2 cannot find the specified file.

I have reinstalled a couple of times.  I will try again and record exactly what happens.
---------
Ok I reinstalled and everything went fine until it came time to start the gbpvr service and I got the "cannot start GBPVR message that I will paste below.

I finally had to cancel the restarting after a couple of minutes.

Thanks,

Javalina

Something on you machine is stopping the recording service from being installed. Are you an administrator on your machine? I dont remember anyone having this problem for a long long time. You could try manually installing the recording service by doing the following:

From a command prompt, change into the C:\Program Files\devnz\GBPVR directory. Run "installutil GBPVRRecordingService.exe". Then reboot.

Installutil may not be in you path. It'll be in a directory like C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322, so you may need to stick that path in front of the installutil command

Hi Javalina,

I had a similar problem with msado15.dll not loading during the install. I finally loaded Service Pack 2 and then reload GBPVR and I did not see the problem again.

I hope this works for you.

Yes, everyone had the msado15.dll error, but it can be safely ignored. Javalina real problem was the recording service not installing correctly (which is unrelated).

Sub,

Ok, I tried to run the install with the directions you gave me. Installutil was not in my path, so I copied the actual installutil.exe file to my gbpvr directory and then ran it. I wasn't sure how to add it to my path. That may not work correctly but the log of that install is below. The log says the file already exists.

Thanks,

Javalina

From the same directory, run the "GBPVRRecordingService.exe run". Does it give you an error message?

On your machine, some file is missing, but I dont know what it is. I'm hoping one of these things is going to let us know what is missing.

When I ran it from that directory I got the following message:

GBPVRRecordingService.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services

Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.

Process id=0xd40 (3392), thread id=0xd24 (3364).

Thanks,
