I reformatted my computer today, and I'm trying to set up GBPVR. (I did have GBPVR before I reformatted, too.)

I have a Hauppauge PVR-150, and I'm using the current version of GBPVR, since I just downloaded it a couple hours ago.

When I try to watch LiveTV with GBPVR, I get a box that says "Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I've played around with some things in the Config, but I just can't get this working right. Oh, I set up my EPG, and everything seems ok there. It detected all the correct channels and stuff.

I did some searching on this forum, and I decided to try turning off "Live Preview Mode". After I did that, when I tried clicking on LiveTv, it said "Starting timeshift mode TV. Please wait." and then it gave me a box saying, "Error: Failure playing back file."

By the way, I installed WinTV, and that is working fine. I can watch TV using that program, so I know my capture card is working fine. I just like GBPVR so much better though!

Can anyone help? I'd sure appreciate it.... Thanks!

PS~I tried to post my GBPVR.exe log file, but it told me my post was too long.

Chances are http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/E...sages#toc1

"Most Likely because you have no compatible MPEG2 decoder installed. See the Playback section for a list of compatible decoders. See the Codec FAQ for some more details on Decoders" :-)

Probably need to reinstall some things since your new format.
Codec Faq is here: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FAQ/Codec
Playback Faq is http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Config/Playback

Normally this involves installing the Prog that comes with your Card e.g. Intervideo WinDVD or WinDVD Creator, or you can try to install Cyberlink PowerDVD.

Cheers

k.

I do have both Intervideo WinDVD and PowerDVD installed, and I also installed everything that was on the CD that came with my PVR-150.

I've tried all of the decoders that I have in the Playback section, but I get the same error with all of them.
In the Video Decoder, I have "System Default", "InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder", "Intervideo Decoder", and "Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder".
In the Audio Decoder, I have all the same choices as above, but I also have "MPEG Audio Decoder".

I have tried tons of combinations of these, and I am continuing to have the same error. Is there anything else that getting this error can mean?

Re-enable live tv, then reproduce the problem and post your gbpvr.exe-native.log file.

Add it as an attachment, not as part of the text of your post.

Well, I'd say its those last two lines...

20:41:31.609 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: Hauppauge WinTV Color Format Converter 2
20:41:31.609 ERROR Failed to find color converter filter

I dont know why this Hauppauge component is not installed on you machine though. All I can suggest is try reinstalling the Hauppauge software. Are you using a current verision? You should download a current version like: http://www.shspvr.com/smf/index.php?topic=8708.0

I still don't have it working, but I'm going to try getting the new drivers like you suggested.

I was out all day today, so I wasn't able to try the drivers. But, I'm going to do it tonight, and I'll post back with my results either tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks......

I uninstalled GBPVR, and everything to do with WinTV, and Hauppauge. I went to the Hauppauge.com website and followed their instructions, and got the newest versions of everything(Drivers, WinTV, IR Blaster, and Scheduler). Then I installed GBPVR again. But I'm still having the same problem. I looked at the log file, and it is exactly the same, with the 2 same errors at the bottom.

Should I try that link that you suggested? I guess that would mean uninstalling everything again, which I have already done twice..... Sad

The version of GBPVR that I had before I reformatted (when everything was working ok) was an older version, I downloaded it in May, I think. So the current version isn't the same one, I don't suppose this could have anything to do with it?

Yeah I would. I've never downloaded a version from the Hauppauge website. They always seem way out of date by the time they're posted.

Ok, I tried that link, and I followed all their instructions for getting ready to install the drivers, which includes uninstalling everything Hauppauge and related. I also uninstalled GBPVR. But, I wasn't able to install the drivers. I posted on that board, asking for help, too. Here is part of my post from over there, it explains the problem I had:

Quote:I followed all the instructions for this new driver, and I got to the last one, where I should install the driver. I opened up a windows explorer window, and clicked on the "HcwDriverInstall" in the folder that I downloaded the driver to. Then it came up with a window that said, "Drivers have NOT been updated. Compatible hardware not found. << click to exit >>"
So I decided to reboot, and then try to let the "New Hardware found" wizard install the driver. I did so, and I told the wizard where to search for the driver, but it came back and said, "Cannot install this hardware. The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the neccessary software."

So right now, I don't have any drivers or programs installed for my PVR-150, and I'm completely unable to use it now. Sad

Thank you for all your suggestions!
