I am having trouble finding channels using the set-up scan.
there are 5 FTA channels in my area (Melbourne Australia) and occsaionally the scan detects one, but usually none.

I have used other programs such as the Twinhan rubbish I got with the card (very buggy) so I know they there and my signal strength and quality are ok.

I see that the one sucessful scan returns this string.

Nine Guide (T:C8,191500,0,0,7~P:1074~V:517~A:700~PMT:258~N:>Nine Guide)

Given that I know this data for the other channels, can I manually enter it somewhere? (If so what sort of editor ASCII/text etc. )

This is a great program and I am looking forward to being able to use its potential.

No, not easily.

Try setting BDAScanType 2 in config.xml. It might help your scanning problem.

Many Thanks !
Using '2' I found another channel. Then using the "some good - more better" logic I tried '3' and '4' and found one more.

I am now at 3/5 channels..

Can you please tell me what file this channel data is in so I may back it up. For what ever reason my set up seems a little sensitive and I would hate to loose the advances I have made.

Anything that is not type "1" is treated as type "2". So 3 and 4 were just type 2 again.

I found that during a scan channel data is stored in a file called
'SCAN-1-cashe' in the 'BDA' directory.

If you create this file you can match these channels agaist the EPG. This won't help too much if you signal is really bad - but might help if you are having troubles finding channels.

Of course this only works for Melbourne Australia, Mt Dandenong transmitter.

Yes, you can do that.

The filename can vary if you have multiple capture sources. On a single capture source system its typcially 'SCAN-1.cache'. The '-1' represents the capture source OID which increments for each capture source.

I've got a frustrating problem - I can scan for and find all the UK FTA DVB-T Channels with no problem in PowerCinema and Showshifter, but when I scan in GB-PVR I only get about half of them. Most crucially, I don't get the BBCs or channel 5. I can live without obscure stuff like TMF etc, but really need the big 5.

I've tried meddling with all sorts of settings, but can't seem to make any difference. I've resorted to breaking into the powercinema database (not too hard :p ) and querying for the channel info. Now I've got all the P: values (frequencies?) etc for all the channels.

So I'm over the moon to find I can cram them into the SCAN-1.cache file and hey-presto (hopefully!) get these channels loaded up into GB-PVR. (I can view them all fine in the other apps too - signal strength is good).

but... I have this sort of info:
Code:
mid         CNICode2    ChannelName  ChannelNumber
----------  ----------  -----------  -------------
1           8264        ITV1         1
2           8328        ITV2         2
3           8298        ITV3         3

now need to add the extras into the SCAN file. I think I need some other info - the CNICode2 maps to the P: column but can't figure out what the other bits are...

Code:
T:C23,490000,0,0,8~P:8264~V:514~A:652~L:eng~PMT:258~LCN:3~N:>ITV1
T:C23,490000,0,0,8~P:8328~V:2818~A:2819~L:eng~PMT:269~LCN:6~N:>ITV2
T:C23,490000,0,0,8~P:8298~V:2850~A:2851~L:eng~PMT:276~LCN:10~N:>ITV3
Can you please tell me what the following items in the SCAN file refer to so that I can dig this info out too:

C:
V:
A:
PMT:
LCN:

I'm encouraged to see you guys have managed to suss it out yourselves - could you give me a helping hand along the way so I can catch up in the UK Smile

Thanks in advance.

(oh, and if there's an easier way I can do this - either get GB-PVR to detect them the same way the other apps do, or just give it the P: value and let it figure out the rest that'd be equally great!)

A: V: and PMT: and the Audio, Video and PMT PIDs.

C: is the comma separated transponder information. Only the 2nd and 5th elements of this are importants. These are frequency and band.

LCN: isnt required, but is the logical channel number
