Up until now, every single update I've done has gone flawlessly and I've been really happy with each one.

When I read about the new features, I was excited, especially the transcoding ones.

Well, I've unfortunately run into a problem. I'll paste what I've written about it previously and see if anyone can help me out:

Quote:Hey Sub,

My wife and I have enjoyed your program for a long time and with each release it gets better and better.

I eagerly updated to this latest version, and to my dismay, up came a .NET error when it tried to start the Config after installing.

I had backed up my database, so I'm not worried about losing it, and I even tried uninstalling GB-PVR and reinstalling it. I also check and I have the latest .NET framework installed on my Win2K box. I don't know the best way to give you the error, but copying-and-pasting it in, so here it is (sorry!):

Sub's reply:
Quote:It looks like you're missing a file (NativeUtilities.dll). Try reinstalling.

And then mine:
Quote:So, I tried reinstalling and the problem still happens. NativeUtilities.dll (I see where you saw that now) is there and in the right place. In fact, I can copy over the previous version I had of it (0.93.10 I think), Windows asks if I want to overwrite, I choose Yes, and Config doesn't complain about missing the file, it's just missing a method (I didn't think it'd work, I was just checking file names).

Can maybe somebody post their NativeUtilities.dll so I can compare?

That was the last of that bit, no more help was forthcoming, but I heard that a new release was being readied so I just waited patiently.

When that came out, I read this in the announcement thread from CaptainVideo:
Quote:I've tried reinstalling to no effect. I've recovered the old GBPVR directory and things seem OK now.

Some background: I had to reinstall Windows2000 because video playback kept freezing the systme on me. So the last two GBPVR installs were fresh.
I installed MDAC 2.7sp1 & .net framework 1.1.

Please Help!!

I've tried the latest update as well and it looks as though we are both in the same boat: NativeUtilities.dll is there, but the config app can't find it. We're both using Win2K and have the latest updates and patches for everything. We've both tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck and, I for one, have had to go back to .93.10

Any ideas, anyone?

Sorry, I dont know. Its possibly Windows 2000 related, but unfortunately I only have WinXP so I'm not aware of what issues you might encounter. I cant think of any recent changes NativeUtilities.dll which would cause any problems with Windows 2000.

You could possible try opening NativeUtilities.dll with Depends.exe which may show a missing dependency (a missing DLL it depends on). You can get depends.exe from http://www.dependencywalker.com/

I have this problem with Win2K. I had to rebuild my win2k system. Downloaded all microsoft updates to latest revs. Added the Net 1.1 and the MDAC. Got the lateste GBPVR release and keep getting the message Cant find NativeUtilites.
I checked where it was looking \devnz\gbpvr\ and that is where the file is.

This machine worked just fine before so not sure what happened. I had used it with 09211 BC (before crash)

Any ideas?

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

I'm guessing you might need to update your version of Windows Media Player?

Thanks, the Media Player seems to be a key... this should go in the pre-req for Win 2000. But the catch was that when I ran dependency walker on NativeUtilites it still did not like the wmvcore in the devnz\gbpvr directory. I had to copy the one fro system32 to the gbpvr directory and then it was fine.

off and running now.

Thanks for the help
