Hi

If we can't use the Hauppauge blaster - I wish I could, life would be much simpler - the new Telstra Digital boxes are not known to the IrBlaster software.

What are the options here in NZ. I take it I can't waltz in to Dick Smiths and get a motherboard connected IrDA port: http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.storefr...iew/XH6458

Any options guys??

IRDA can not generate signals compatible with consumer electronics, so that wont work.

I'm sure the Hauppauge blaster is able to be compatible with these boxes, it just might take Hauppauge to provide an updated set of tables.

Alternatively there is a thread here somewhere about making a cheap IR Blaster using winlirc

Oh I'm sure it would work as well.

It all depends on how long, and how likely they are to put support for these boxes into their software.

Pity Lirc hasn't been properly ported over to windows. I have heard of success with that.

I am pretty happy with the USB-UIRT. I hope that works with the new TCL digital boxes

How much was that??

TCL would that be Telstra?? That's what started all this. Would be interested to see if you can figure out the codes for the telstra boxes. I've tried everything the Hauppauge blaster software can handle and it didn't like any of those.

If you have the blaster hardware you can try HIP software http://www.byremote.com.au/HIP/Default.htm. It acts as both ir decoder and irblaster controller. The receiver part works well, and the blaster part looks good, but I think my blaster hardware isn't quite up to the job

Cool thanks, I'll give that a go.

I'm thinking it may not work. I did the unthinkable last night, blew away my GBPVR solution and put Knoppmyth R5A16 on.

Configured to work with my PVR-150 remote. Then using the irrecord command tried recording the commands from the set top box I'm using. But Hauppauge seem to use a special RC protocol that not all remotes use, so it wasn't able to pick anything up.

Have to rebuild the GB-PVR again now.

The price was US$50 + US$20 shipping. Well worth it I reckon

As for figuring out the codes for the TCL remotes, well you don't really have to since the USB-UIRT works with gbpvr to learn the codes from the remote. So when you install the USB-UIRT and then configure it, gbpvr asks you to press each key on the remote 0-9, enter and some other codes I think and asks whether or not you need to press 01 for channel 1, whether or not after a channel number you need to send enter

Works brilliantly for me
