I'm trying to get the conversion feature in GBPVR to work however, I'm tired of recording shows in order to test the conversion feature. I've gotten the Xvid Mpeg Codec conversion to work with video but no audio. I would like to maually execute GBPVRConvert.exe on shows I've previously recorded so that I can troubleshoot my no audio problem without continuously recording shows so that GBPVRConvert executes automatically after recording. The WIKI manual says that the correct way to run GBPVRConvert.exe is as follows:

GBPVRConvert <SOURCE> <DEST> <TYPE>

So is this example below the correct way to run this command manually?

Example: GBPVRConvert C:\NipTuck\Niptuck_20050925_09000930.mpg C:\Niptuck\Niptuck_20050925_09000930.avi XviD MPEG-4 Codec

I've been trying to execute this but it just doesn't work for me. Please help.

Thanks for your reply, but the only difference between the example in your reply, and the way I've been attempting to execute this command is the quotes around the type of 3rd party codec that I wish to encode to. I've tried using the quotes around the codec but it still does not execute. What can be wrong? Has anyone successfully executed this command from the command prompt and it worked?

I run it from the command line all the time. You need quotes around any of the parameters that have spaces. If the path to you video has a space in it, then you also need quotes around the file names.

Post you GBPVRConvert.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

I am still unable to run the GBConvert.exe manually but here is one of the log files from the automatic run of GBPVRConvert.exe. After placing quotes around all parameters with spaces the command did execute but with an error....I think it was due to me trying to xecute it while the program is recording.

Yeah, you shouldnt it on a file that is still recording. This wouldnt work.

Did you have the Elecard MPEG2 player installed? This is recommended. Most MPEG2 decoders seem to generate media samples that the divx/xvid encoder doesnt like, but the Elecard samples are good.

I wasn't attempting the GBPVRConvert on a recording file, it was on a completed file while GBPVR was recording another show. I didn't have the Elecard decoder or player installed during the conversion shown in the log file that I submited, but I do have it installed now. The log file that I submitted though did convert a mpeg file to an avi file using the Xvid codec with perfect video but it didn't have any sound.

Try installing the lame encoder from http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/directsho..._dshow.zip. It might help.

Ok I'll dnld and install it. BTW... I finally got the GBPVRConvert to work manually now that GBPVR isn't recording and I placed quotes around paramters that contained spaces....thanks. As soon as it completes I'll post the log file. This one will be a result of having Elecard decoder and player installed but not the Lame encoder. Will post when complete.

ok great news..... it worked. I ran GBPVRConvert manually using the Xvid Mpeg4 codec, and I have a 273 meg avi file with both video and sound. I had the elecard mpeg2 player loaded, but I didn't load the lame codec that you mentioned yet.

Questions though... 1. look at the included log file and notice that it says it failed on locating both the elecard mpeg2 decoder and the lamed codec. Why is this when the resulting file is great and contains both audio and video? . 2. What determines the resulting file size of the conversion?
