Hey

I've got HIP configured to work with GBPVR and have recored the IR code from my SKY decoder box/remote. these have been mapped to my MCE 2005 remote and I can use this remote to change the channel on my sky box in Live TV.

Question

If I set up a recording for 3:00am for channel 11 (SKY Sports2) via the TV guide, and that night we watched a film on channel 21 then went to sleep, will GBPVR change channel prior the recording starts.

I have capture set-up as an external tuner on s-video in on a 150.

If is there anything special I need do do in the channel changer set-up ?

Thanks in advance.

P.s Sub how do you manage to keep the wife happy and kids plus us the user. You seem to be always on the ball. Keep it up. nice work

GB-PVR will change channels if at 3:00am assuming you've configured a channel changer. It really depends which on you have as to what exactly you need to do.

You mention a PVR150 above, so assuming you're using the retail version of the PVR150 that comes with an IR Blaster, then you need to configure you capture sources to use the .exe channel changer, and point it at c:\programfiles\devnz\gbpvr\HaupBlast.exe, you also need to run the Hauppauge BlastCfg to set the correct set top box etc.

Thanks Sub for the reply. I opted for the 150 without a remote and have gone for an MCE 2005 remote and use HIP to re-map it's keys, as only some of the key work. I have also mapped my sky remote to the channel changer keys of the remote so I can change it's channels.

So can you clarify, then if I have a 2 recordings and both are on differenent channels then it will not auto change prior to the program recording.

ie. channel on 1 when left.

1st rec TV 1 news @ 10pm channel 1
2nd red UK TV @ 1am channel 4

Is this possible if you choose internal tuner in capture area ?

Its important to note you are talking about two separate things:

Firstly, controlling GB-PVR with a remote control. GB-PVR is compatible with MCE2005 remote, so you can navigate around the menus etc.

Second, controlling an external set top box using an IR Blaster. GB-PVR does not support the MCE 2005 IR Blaster. You might be able to get work using the ".exe channel changer" and using a command line utility, but I've not tried it myself.

Hi gjen - I'm just about to (at my next opportunity) try to setup HIP with my MCE 2005 remote, so that I can set GB-PVR to the active window when I need to (or ideally set it up so that GB-PVR does not have to be the active window).

Any pointers or mappings/files you've already worked out would be great if you didn't mind passing them on. Is it as simple as installing HIP with the MCE remote plugin then using the HIP user interface to map MCE keys to the application buttons, or are them some catches? I'm interested to see how you tell hip about which GB-PVR button to trigger for a given remote key, I'm not sure how this is going to work - i.e what is the GB-PVR interface to HIP I guess.

Hi sorry for the delay in resonse, I forgot I put in this subject.

It took me two seperate attemps to get HIP working. 1st time i cound't get it to function correctly. No I some how fluked it and this set-up works for me.

1st I followed there instructions to install HIP and the new MCE driver for the USB IR controller.

I then open there MCEIR config file and used the known GBPVR shortcut keys to remap the existing keys already defined in HIP.

I.e TV guide was assign F2

I also got HIP to learn new IR commands and then assigned them to keys on the MCE remote.

I'll try and post my HIP config file.

It's really cool as I also added other applications .I.e Power DVD and so when I watch a video via my videos I use an external play and as soon as PDVD is in focuse the remote can now control that app. and so I've assisged keys to control the player. Then when it closes down after watching a move (I assiged a the close app to my stop key) the focus is back on GBPVR and so the remote now controls that app and uses the assigned keys.

Really neat. It can control a numeber of apps. Wehn you add the program it some how knows the apps pre-difined keys and gives you a list of the pre-defined for that app.

hope this helps. will post my config file later as I'm doing lates.

P.s if you want to map your "my music" and "my videos" and "my Pictures" etc to your remote this is done in the config.xml file

you have to define which plugin you are using. view the config.xml file and look for the "live TV" and "TV guide" and you'll see the format. there's also a thread in the forum which I stumbled upon. will also copy and paste my config.xml section if yuo need more help.
