I have a recording that failed, in fact it seems most of my recordings after midnight fail anyway (gremlins, perhaps). Anyway, I was supposed to record this show at 3:30AM. It didn't record, and now it's stuck in the recordings list as "Failed" and won't delete. What do I do?

I have "failed" recordings I can't delete as well.

The recordings were scheduled through "season record." The computer was on "standby." When the time came, the computer did not wake up to record them. I woke up the computer and ran GBPVR: the entries appeared as "scheduled." They only turned to "failed" after a reboot.

I failed to reproduce this problem (tried once). I set up a 10-min manual record and put the computer in "standby." It woke up and recorded as expected.

When it occurs, can you email over your GBPVRRecordingService.exe.log file?

I haven't had any recordings scheduled over the weekend, so I don't have any more info on the wake-up-to-record problem.
For the "unable to delete failed recording" problem, I found this in the GBPVR.exe.log that may be helpful:
----------------------------------------
05/23/2004 09:23:14.045 INFO [2] Warning: Deleting recording (video file no longer exists)
05/23/2004 09:23:14.085 VERBOSE [2] RecordingFactor.DeleteSheduledRecording()
05/23/2004 09:23:14.145 VERBOSE [2] RecordingFactory.loadSchedule()
----------------------------------------
It's true, the file doesn't exist. The recording had never started.

That's what happened with my failed recording too, it never even started for whatever odd reason.

I have found a sitution that doesn't occur all the time, but can cause the Recording Service to not initialize correctly. This problem was introduced in v0.17, but is corrected for the next release.

Does this problem also cause the taskbar icon to disappear? I noticed that occasionally the icon disappears when I hover the mouse pointer over it. The process still appears running in the task manager.

I'm not 100% sure at that senario, but if you restart the recording service (with the OK button in config app) and the icon doesn't appear, then the initialization has failed.

I am having the same problem here. I have no icon showing in the taskbar, cant remember ever seeing one, should there be one or is there a setting for it that i have missed in the config setup?

Did this issue ever get resolved? I seem to have recordings that say they are scheduled but the timeslot has long since passed. I cannot delete them. Once I reboot they show as failed and I can delete them. Once I get into the "missed scheduled recording but doesn't show as failed" state it seems like none of my recordings will work. I do all my scheduling through the TV guide, I believe I use Direct as the recording plugin. Doesn't matter if I schedule them from PC or MVP, it behaves the same. I have P3 900MHz, WinTV250, XP Pro w/ SP1, GBPVR 0.21, MVP.

1) I don't know what gets it into this state (although last night I had a program scheduled at 10pm on channel 4 and I was watching channel 9 at that time...I dunno if that has any relevance or not?).

2) I don't know why they don't show as failed

3) I'd like to at least know another way to get out of this state other than a reboot...would Restart Recording Service help?

I appologize if the resolution is posted elsewhere and I cannot find it!!

By the way, upgrading to v0.21 fixed my Live TV on MVP problem...GBPVR ROCKS MY WORLD!!!!
