Hi Sub, I have 2 on-going problems:

1) the Tuning Assistant will only scan the first 11 channel frequencies, which in the case of New Zealand only covers the VHF band and misses out the UHF channel frequencies. After doing some research I found that for New Zealand it scans through the registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\TS64-0]
This has 47 channels listed, so why doesn't the Tuning Assistant scan all 47 channel frequencies?

2) I also found out that if .........\TS0-0 key exists, then the Tuning Assistant and GBPVR will use that key instead of the TS64-0 key. This can really screw up your TV channel configuration in gbpvr if some other program generated the entries in the TS0-0 key (which is what happened to me). Is this supposed to happen?

By default a windows installation has no registry settings in TS64-0, so you must have either created these yourself, or used another application that created them. I suggest you backup and remove any frequency overrides you have in the [[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune\] key

Just set your capture source for New Zealand/Cable and it will find all of our NZ channels.

Thanks Sub,

I found that you are correct, another application had generated those TS registry entries, so I deleted them all. However I still wanted to use the "antenna" setting on the ATI 550 card because it produces better quality signal (suspect higher RF-gain on the input with antenna setting). So I have contructed my own TS0-0 override, based on NZ standard channels/frequencies and the Tuning Assistant now correctly scans all NZ channels and the correct NZ channel numbers can now be entered into gbpvr.
