I saw a previous post from sub indicating that you can change channels with the remote by entering the number and pushing ok. I can't get this to work. I am using the Hauppauge remote with a PVR350 and have tried to change channels in livetv both on the pc and using mvp - no joy. The numbers come up on then screen and if I push ok the whole thing seizes up. Only way I change is using the up channel and down channel buttons. Am I missing something?

Have installed USBUIRT in the weekend and found it works great. In fact have now got everything I have tried working well inclkuding DVDs, recording etc. Only other problem is with two MVPs running something isn't quite right with stability - but thats another problem.

Thanks

John

Have you defined the channel numbers under "Channel Numbers" in the config, so you know you are selecting a valid channel?

Don't know what happens if two channels are assigned to the same number...

Can I have feedback from anyone as to whether this function works for them please?

I did some more testing last night and found if I enter a channel number and push ok the livetv picture seems to freeze, if I push ok again sometimes it will change, if not the picture remains frozen.

The USBUIRT successfully sends a signal and changes the channel on the skytv decoder so it is just in the settings of GBPVR and the Hauppauge remote that aren't working properly.

Should I have the Hauppauge ir.exe running as I think it is, I will try some setting changes there.

A couple things you can try, which should help us narrow down the problem:

- If you change channel using the 'up' or 'down' key, does it also freeze?

- If you disable the PVR350 tv out, and try the same thing on your PC monitor (using software decoding), does it still freeze?

- You also mentioned the MVP. Does the MVP also freeze when trying to change channel, or does something else happen (like it returns to the main menu)? Playback via the PVR350 and MVP are entirely independant with no shared code, so I wouldn't expect them to behave exactly the same.

You could delete your logs, then start GB-PVR to reproduce the problem, then email the resulting log fiels to me at support@devnz.com.

Just a few quick answers sub while I am at work.

Changing channels with up down works although slowly as I have about 20 chanels to scroll through.

I do not use the TV out feature on my PVR350 - only use the TV monitor.

Haven't tried changing channels with the MVP yet.

I use the PVR-350 as well, and it works, allowing me to type in the the channel numbers, but it only allows me to enter 2 digit channel codes, which is a bit limiting as I have over 100 channels.

Cheers

I tried changing the channel on a MVP last night and it worked perfectly. I then tried doing it a bit later in the evening and found it crashed the service on the PC. I currently have two MVPs configured and find that the stability of the two services is not great.

I suspect you're describing two different things.

With PVR350, this is like to be the driver "clagging up" as its known to do on some machines. All I can really suggest on this front is try the most recent driver (1.18.21.22254) as it appears to be much better than previous ones. This driver seems to have solved alot of PVR350 owner's problems.

On the MVP front, this is likely my fault. I'm keen to solve any MVP related problems, and I've now got time to look at it, so would be interested in receiving a couple of your log file. Email them to me at support@devnz.com with a reasonable description of what you were doing at the time, and what happened.

There is one complication when it comes to the MVP. Only the first instance will produce log files, so if you're running 2 instances, and the error occurs on the second instance then the logs may not give me the information I need.

I have loaded newest drivers as you recommended - great!! - channels now change when using PC, although for it to work I needed to shutdown the hauppauge ir.exe. Have checked the box on miscellaneous tab to use Hauppauge remote directly. Also find that I need to push ok after entering channel number, if I checked the box to send ok/enter automatically it didn't seem to work.

My first test last night was with only one MVP. When PC boots up there was one GBPVR server window sitting minimised above the start button on the desktop. I had Hauppauge remote ir.exe shutdown. Fired up the MVP, channels changed ok requiring ok to be entered for each channel change. Closed down MVP. Back on the PC I noticed that Hauppauge ir.exe was now running, although the GBPVR server window was gone. Shutdown the ir.exe and restarted the MVP and found that it took quite a while for the channel changing via remote numbers to work. Could change using up channel, down channel straight away. No sign of ir.exe running when I checked my PC this morning.
Will continue on further tests with two MVPs tonight.

Yes, you always need to push OK after entering the channel number. The setting you refer tofor "sending ok/enter" is used for something entirely different (pushing channel changes out via IR Blaster to STB, wheras you're talking about receiving IR commands from a remote control). Yes, they both relate to IR signals, but different areas of the application (one in, one out).

Because you reinstalled the Hauppauge drivers, it has overwritten the GB-PVR settings in irremote.ini which explains you having to run direct access to the Hauppauge remote.

ir.exe play no part in interactions with the MVP. GB-PVR doesn't start ir.exe, so I'm not sure what restarted it for you.
