To avoid potential confusion LibreELEC and CoreELEC updates for Omega final and Piers alpha starting today now could include a new 7.0.4 version of the NextPVR service. This is a legitimate version that sub authorized me to send out and it will be distributed to other platforms when he has the time to publish the full release.

7.0.4 is definitely a patch release and most of the changes have already been released on the forum. For LibreELEC users this is notable as that release for various reasons had been frozen on 7.0.1. Note for 7.0.3 users reading this there was a notable issue with devices with multiple tuners creating multiple copies of the EPG table. This was fixed early on but you may have missed it https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid603887 It also includes this most recent patch https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid604286 if you want to have close to 7.0.4 functionality today.

It was not really the patches that prompted me to ask sub to release 7.0.4 early though. The current LE updates include a ffmpeg build that has software encoding of h264 enabled on aarch64 for use by the NextPVR web player. I had asked them for this thinking that the RPi5 and another new SoC the RK3588 were capable enough and it turns out I was right they play nicely As bonus even older RPi4's and the new S905X5M based boxes can transcode fast enough (especially within the ultrafast configuration) leaving room for local Kodi playback recording etc. The Odroid N2 works as well, but ultrafast is also better. The CoreELEC repo may not have all the pieces just yet, but if anyone needs them let me know.

Speaking of the S905X5M CoreELEC boxes while they do some limitations with USB I consider it a milestone that these new chips are capable of doing h264 transcoding and doing it cheaply ($60) and silently without a fan. Since they can do 4K too, for me this is really up there with the MVP and PCH doing MPEG2 or H264 better than a PC. The same chip is being used in the latest generation xiaomi box which dual boots CE and Android. It is also in the latest Walmart ONN which sadly cannot boot CE. So props to the LE and CE teams that keep developing for these platforms, things can only get better.
Expected start time is 2023-09-01 @ 2100 CDT / 2023-09-02 @ 0200 UTC.

I don't know how long the outage the announcement is here. https://forums.schedulesdirect.org/viewt...868#p10868 I expect some EPG updates especially in Europe could fail as a result if users are updating in the maintenance windows.

Sub has been testing the change and SD did make some changes to and we haven't seen anything that should impact v6 users. If you notice something after maintenance completes, maybe post here.

V4 users will continue to have known issues with login etc.

Try something different.

It is an Old School style skin that uses lots of the display area & also displays things like the timeline & position indicator at the top 'like it used to be done'.

It comes in three variants, 'Blue & Grey' (which are really just different background images) & a 'Retro' version with retro images for some of the backgrounds.
It has been tested on NextPVR.exe 6.1.2 & later using win10 & win11 (it also displays on the uiclients like nlite & uidroid etc.)

https://mega.nz/file/XdQTgBLC#XyFZgcJ_0V...YfjYGyiic8

To install unzip the OlSkool download somewhere (not in Program Files) & then copy the skins into "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin"

Run NextPVR.exe, right click & select settings>General in there you can select the Active Skin (don't worry about the image it shows there) & you can also change/select the Menu Style.

There are also a few easily user changeable options that I will document in the support thread here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid582660
Also of note is the NextPVR Server has now been released as a package for LibreElec 11. Packages for LibreElec 10 and CoreElec 19/20 should be appearing soon too. On these platforms installing NextPVR Server can be performed with just a remote control. This might be the easiest way to install NextPVR for Linux on an older x64 Intel/AMD PC or laptop, an RPi, or many other Android TV boxes and single board computers.
The wiki should be the definitive source for information and it should be used before following suggestions in other forum posts. Please let me know of any errors.

Recently there have been issues for many SiliconDust users with server API"s which have been temporarily reverted but it appears that all users have until the end of 2022 to upgrade an unreleased version after sub changes v6 to a newer discovery protocol. I am not sure of the impact on v4 but sub will need to comment. Both will work for the short term.

For short term mitigation, if you don't add new devices, or change IP's and are happy with your setup I recommend that v5 or v6 change the general setting to not to scan tuners on startup.

Here are two very relevant quotes from the SiliconDust forum.

Quote:The cloud assisted discover API was deprecated a while back and will be removed completely at the end of 2022.

Note that it will likely be useless before then as HDHomeRun tuners upgrade to IPv6.

Quote:I have restored the LocalIP value and I have restored the forced-ipv4 handling so it should should be back working for the moment. Please note however that this discovery mechanism is deprecated and will only return HDHomeRun devices that connected to the guide server using IPv4. Starting with the next beta release all gen5 and newer models will support connecting via IPv6 and if they connect via IPv6 they will not show up in this deprecated discover API.

Don't shoot the messenger, if you have comments direct them to the SiliconDust forum.
Main functions

- imports video files from disk as recording, based on filename bringing in metadata if available from NFO and some XML files.
- imports video files from other PVR apps (TVHeadend, embedded WMC, SageTV, TVMosaic, SiliconDust DVR, Emby and NextPVR backups)
- manages media/shows artwork

If you want more details on how to use this check out the wiki https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/NextTool

If you have questions about the application itself or feature requests you can post them here but for support and actual usage problems please post them in the support forum https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=12

I am once again happy to announce a new client for NextPVR this time on Android. The client is called uidroid. Unlike sub's Android client the client has the same look and feel as NextPVR.exe for Windows. Similar functionality is available on Android using Kodi with knewc but this custom solution requires less memory and is easier to configure. If you prefer a modern Android GUI, then you should probably be using sub's app.

This client is standalone and uses the ExoPlayer player on Android for direct non-transcoded playback. ExoPlayer is powerful client and it keeps getting better.

If addition to NextPVR Live TV and Recordings you will be able to access your Video, Music and Picture Libraries including playback of mkv, mp4, webm, mp3 and FLAC files. The new AC-4 format audio is also support for ATSC 3.0.

To get started the Android apk is available at https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid562489 and it will need to be sideloaded. Currently note this is a debug build and it includes extra logging.

For usage notes please check the information posts in the new support forum for this app https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=67 if you have any questions not answered by those posts please open a new thread unless it is specifically related to the thread.

This client is another project I created to support sub. As a result if you haven't made a donation of some kind in support of NextPVR the app will stop working after 7 days. If you need more time without donating you will need to completely uninstall the app and install it again. Contact sub via PM to get the required key information.

Once again thanks to VCR58 and BrettB,for testing and comments and of course to sub for making NextPVR and the UI Client interface possible.

LineUp is a configuration utility to select and apply Channel Bouquets from the Broadcasters and your Custom Channel List into NextPvr.

LineUp lets you choose your own Channel Numbers/Names, Merge different Broadcast sources into a single channel and assign EPG (XMLTV or OTA).

The initial release supports Satellite, Terrestrial and HdPvr. Data is provided by EPG Collector and is processed into the NextPvr Database. LineUp is designed to be run on a regular schedule and will maintain the NextPvr configuration as changes are detected in the data feed.

LineUp for NextPvr is a development of the original LineUp developed for the DVBLogic TVSource product. It was developed from the UK Satellite feeds and should work where ever EPG Collector is able to create the requried data files (this was certainly the case with the TVSource version).

The initial release is version 21080 and is a complete rewrite. This version should be treated as a Beta. Full details are in the User Guide included in the ZIP Package.

LineUp can be obtained from Sourceforge

I am happy to announce a new client for NextPVR using a Roku channel. This channel will provide users with the same Look and Feel as NextPVR.exe for Windows and for knewc and nlite on other platforms.

Here is a very brief demo of the client in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfmmQuxc5Cs

This is pretty much a worse case scenario since I am playing from a remote NextPVR server over the Internet, using Locast.org not a tuner which is also receiving over the Internet, and playing on low end Roku player using 2.4 Ghz Wifi.

If addition to NextPVR Live TV and Recordings you will be able to access your Video, Music and Picture Libraries including playback of mkv, mp4, webm, mp3 and FLAC files containing many formats.

Over the coming days I will provide additional posts on how to install the channel and additional information in the new Roku client support sub-forum https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=65

If you would like to test this client on your Roku device please send me a PM.https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=63677

Thanks to VCR58, BrettB, UJB and ElihuRozen for testing this and of course to sub for making NextPVR and the UI Client interface possible.

Today I am releasing two exiting new Extra devices for NextPVR.

Detail for these "Extras" and request for new extra devices from other legal non DRM-ed content can be requested in the the Extras sub-forum
https://forums.nextpvr.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=64 too.

Please, support posts should not be posted in this thread.

1. Pluto TV content from https://pluto.tv/ Content is based on your country. UK and US users will find a lot of information. It can actually be overwhelming so check the website to see for yourself

Comes with guide data too unfortunately it is only about 5 hours worth at a time.

Installation instructions here https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/Extra-PlutoTV
2. UK content from https://www.filmon.com/tv/ It is only SD but for users outside the UK you will likely find original content you haven't seen before

Guide data is available via Schedules Direct and XMLTV

3. Current channel list https://imgur.com/lehmn8A

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Combined with the recently released locast.or suppor you can add you 100's of channels to NextPVR without even needing a tuner.

Also a huge thanks to Graham and JavaWiz and ironing out many pre-release issues and to sub for his assistance as always.
