Hauppauge HD PVR users will find that the graph filter for their unit supplied with NPVR works well but does not seem to control the blue top lights, - "bling" lights Hauppauge calls them.
Here is a workaround, more of a kludge actually, to get them working with NPVR.
Download and install the "Colossus Hauppauge Capture" software from Hauppauge. This software is for both the Hauppauge Colossus and the HD PVR. Installing this software has the additional advantage of bringing the HD PVR drivers up to date with the latest versions. The software is at: http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/su...ossus.html
The computer will be rebooted after installation.
After checking the proper operation of the Hauppauge Capture software take the following steps.
First temporarly deactivate NPVR.
Start Hauppauge Capture and place it in record.
Exit the capture program WITHOUT pressing "Stop". Verify at the exit prompt. The bling lights should stay lit and the firmware in the HD PVR will now control the bling lights.
Power off the HD-PVR. Power the HD-PVR back on to reset the bling lights.
Sign off, reboot the computer and reactivate NPVR.
The blue bling lights should now shine brightly when the HD PVR is recording under NPVR control.
I'm trying to upgrade from GB-PVR/MediaMVP to NextPVR
with a Samsung SmartTV but I'm having lots of issues:
1. A very significant number of recorded SD TV shows
with marked commercials loop unconttrollably
during initial playback. The first few
seconds is shown over and over and no key presses
that I can find will break out of the loop.
One example of many is "Murder in the First",

Is there any way to turn on and off the commercial
skipping feature, e.g. "999" enter?
2. I can't play any recorded show or video that contains
an ampersand in it's filename, e.g. Penn & Teller,
Law & Order. It just hangs without showing any video.
3. I can't play any video while it's being recorded,
either on the local computer or an a networked computer.
It just hangs without showing any video.
Are there any ways to get around these problems?
My fallback position is to use my MediaMVP - it
almost always works!
Reading through the various threads, I'm a bit confused as to what settings I should be using. There seems to be a lot of different modes available in the settings!
I'm trying to achieve proper playback of in-progress recordings, and being able to timeshift in live TV would also be nice.
Both client and server are Windows 8.1 x64, and they're connected by 1Gb LAN.
My recordings folder and live TV buffer folder are both shared on the LAN already.
Currently, if a user deletes a channel from the list of channels that a tuner receives, it's very tough to add that channel back. You have to rescan all the channels and start over. Checkboxes sound like a much better solution. Unchecked would mean the channel is hidden. Checked makes it visible.
I was trying to clean up my TV guide by deleting a few channels I didn't have EPG data for. Once I finished deleting about 3 channels, went to the TV guide only to find ALL the guide data missing. The channels were listed, but no EPG data. I did a Empty EPG, and Update EPG expecting to solve the problem, but no luck, still empty. The log appears to be pulling all the data from Schedules Direct, but not being loaded into the DB... What am I doing wrong??
I'm running NextPVR 3.5.7 on Windows 7-64 bit. I use an OTA antenna and tuner card as my input. I have zap2xml providing my EPG data. All of this is working great, and my guide is staying current, and my scheduled recordings are in fact being recorded. In my settings, however, I have checked that I would like the recordings saved with the s01e01 naming format. I do this because I use Emby server to manage my recorded TV along side my personally owned movies and TV series that I have ripped to my hard drive. Emby uses the s01e01 format to identify episodes, and without it it just lists garbage and you have to guess at which episode it is.
The zap2xml creates the xmltv.xml file with all of the guide data in it. When looking at the .xml it shows that the <episode-num system="dd_progid"> and provides an episode number that looks like EP00681911.0304. NextPVR seems to be able to figure out which episode it is from this information and provide the proper metadata in the guide and recording descriptions. So if it recognizes the specific episode, why won't it name the episode with the s01e01 format so Emby can obtain the proper metadata as well?
Is there something I can do to fix this? Is there some batch script that can look at the .ts file created by NextPVR and do an automatic rename to append the s01e01 in the file name?
Ok, now that I got my issue with the IR blaster fixed, I'm still dealing with trying to get Schedules direct setup. I went through the wiki and de-slected all the channels I did not want on the SD site. Then upon importing them, they were all still there. A little more time on the site I found that when using JSON, you have to manage the channel; list in the client and not on the SD site. Is this true or is there a way around it?
The reason I ask is there are over 1000 channels in the direct tv Los Angeles guide and a number of them are flat out wrong or mis-numbered. In the end, I need only about 200. This is going to take forever if I have to uncheck each one as I go though the channels, then repeat the process EXACTLY for the second HDPVR.
The erroneous channels are causing NPVR to try to tune to a channel that does not exist so I can't just leave them in there.
First post on this forum, will receive this mini computer next week and will be testing NextPVR server to see how it runs. I have been using tvheadend server running in OpenELEC on my $35 Android stick (MK808B Plus) and that works very well as a stand alone DVR. Has anyone done this yet?
I arranged for my CableCard to be paired with my tuner (InfiniTV PCIe 6). But all NextPVR shows for live TV is a blank screen with no sound. Ceton's diagnostic app reports no problems. Any ideas what's wrong? I don't want to have to wait for Comcast to send a tech out.
