  All recordings deleted
Posted by: chuck_2330 - 2015-08-18, 09:02 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Last night my wife deleted a program that she had just watched (FYI it was the latest Grand Designs, she deleted it at approximately 7:30pm?). She then noticed that every recording had been deleted. I checked the computer and every file and folder that had been recorded by NPVR across two drives had been deleted, only leaving a couple of files and folders that had been placed there manually. I restarted the computer and scanned one of the drives overnight but it does not appear to be a hardware problem and that all NPVR recordings have actually been deleted. I am going to try and recover the deleted files (ouch) but I was hoping that the logs might tell the story as to how the happened so that I don't do it again! TIA.

  Channel "List" somewhere?
Posted by: RTKAT - 2015-08-18, 08:59 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (17)

After you have scanned for channels and have a nice list of them, are they stored somewhere? I can't find them.
The thought would be to take this "list" and move it to a different computer in the future. Saving having to scan all over again.

Posted by: A2Bob - 2015-08-18, 02:00 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (10)

Just installed NEXTPVR and getting good video using MainConcept(HCW) MPEG-2 Video Decoder, but no audio.

Windows PC running Windows 7
Hauppauge HVR-2250

Which audio decoder should be enabled and which choice under that decoder should I select?

thanks

I sometimes use NextPVR with Kodi on 3 PC's/2 x Tablets and some phones.

I wish that

- TV Recording metadata was stored in .nfo files, directories, separate from the DB or .ts files.
- TV Recording directories could be moved and the only settings that need to be changed in NPVR would be the location of the directories. (like WMC)
- TV Recordings could be archived to network locations on a schedule. As an added extra at a slowed speed so as to not impact on other recordings or live tv. (like WMC with WHS)

Thanks

Can't debug with app using Nutility (System.TypeInitializationException)
Posted by: danorum - 2015-08-17, 10:42 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

I am trying to use Nutility.dll in my app, but if I try to run my executable anywhere except for program files\NPVR, I get this exception:

{"The type initializer for 'NUtility.DatabaseHelper' threw an exception."}

Which has an inner exception of
{"The type initializer for 'System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteFactory' threw an exception."}

If I compile my exe and put it in the program files\npvr directory, it runs fine. Can anyone tell me how to make it so my exe can run anywhere (including the debugger)? Is there something I can do to my code so it can find the SQLite database correctly, if that is why it is failing?

Thanks,
Dan

EPG suddenly not updating with windows Vista
Posted by: holli - 2015-08-17, 08:37 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

Hi There,

I have been enjoying using npvr for a couple years now. I love it but have been having a recurrent problem. Every 4 - 6 months it seems the EPG just stops updating. I have searched the forum with no suggested solutions working for me, but found in the past a reinstall or installing the new version has fixed the problem for me. This time upgrading hasn't worked for me, neither has deleting and rescanning my channels. Any help on this problem would be appreciated. Thanks so much! BTW I am upgrading using xmltv

No channels found during ATSC scan (PVR-2250)
Posted by: Kilau - 2015-08-17, 05:12 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I finally decided to try and upgrade to NextPVR from my existing software (which works, but has not been supported or updated in years).

I seem to have no trouble installing NextPVR, and the software seems to find and identify my HVR-2250. However, I am having trouble getting NextPVR to find any ATSC channels during its scan. It does find the few unencrypted QAM channels my cable company provides, but that is all. The channels are available with my old software, for both live viewing and recording, so I know the cable is connected correctly and that my card works.

I have updated the drivers for my PVR-2250 to the newest version (33006).

After searching through the forums, I found a post that blamed the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, so I changed my decoder and tried again (without success). After each decoder change I made sure to OK the change and even tried restarting the computer. After I tried several decoders, I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling NextPVR, still without luck.

I have attached my logs after my most recent installation, then ATSC scan, then QAM SCAN, and then another ATSC scan.

Any ideas what I am missing or doing wrong?

  Problems on smartphone

I think there are problems on a smartphone accessing the Forums coming from main page. If i google nextpvr forum is all ok, but coming from nextpvr.com there's no access to the forum's button. Just to signal it to the web creator/owner. Bye,
sdf

Newbie (kind of) - no show details
Posted by: me4ble - 2015-08-17, 12:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

Hi everyone,

I have been using npvr for awhile now and I recently changed to zap2it for EPG data. It worked for a few weeks, then just the other day, I was getting no show details. This has happened in the past, but I have been able to piece together a solution from reading the forums. However, it seems as though things should be working. I tried to manually update the EPG to no avail. I am stumped. Thanks Chad

Unsilenceable stutter on crash, and NDigitalHost high CPU use freezing PC
Posted by: bitoclass - 2015-08-16, 09:48 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I've recently switched from Media Center on Windows 8.1 (in hope of upgrading to Windows 10!) and am mostly loving NPVR so far - thank you!

But I have encountered a particular issue a couple of times that has required me to reboot my entire PC to fix it so I thought I'd report it and see if you can help. I attach my logs as requested in case these are useful.

The problem I have been left with a couple of times is that the sound from NPVR (live TV this time, and I think last time too) suddenly gets stuck repeating one tiny fragment of sound, so making an ongoing jarring buzzing sound, and nothing I do shuts it up! I can even launch NPVR again and happily carry on watching TV with sound, but the previous sound stutter continues.

Exacerbating this problem, NPVR doesn't appear at all in the Windows Volume Mixer, as most software does, so I can't mute or otherwise adjust its sound selectively. Muting the items that do appear there makes no difference, but muting the overall ouput to my speakers in there does mute the noise (and everything else!). Only a reboot shuts it up.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

This time, it happened on the second occasion this evening that one of the NDigitalHost processes had suddenly started using a great deal of CPU, making the entire PC freeze up for a second or two at a time, repeatedly, and the sound stutter for the duration of the freeze. Earlier this evening, when I wasn't watching live TV or even had NPVR running as a window itself, this had happened but the computer recovered after perhaps 30 seconds to a minute of this behaviour. This time NPVR was in use for live TV, and it exited without notice or error and the permanent stuttering sound began.

I believe both occurrences of the freezing-up computer/NDigitalHost high CPU use issue this evening happened when NPVR was beginning to record a programme on BBC One (BBC London News). Neither of these recordings has worked - both are 900kB files which dono't play. I'm not sure what the problem is there but presumably it's all related!

My DVB hardware is a BlackGold BGT3600 with dual DVB-S and dual DVB-T tuners. I have lots of channels (including BBC One) set up to use sources from both types of tuner - four sources in total. On the first freezing-up/high CPU occasion this evening, I was already recording a programme on Channel 4 HD when the BBC One recording tried to start. On the second occasion there was no other recording already taking place. In both cases there should clearly have been at least three tuners going spare for recording BBC One from.

My soundcard is an ASUS Xonar D2X. My motherboard is an ASUS P7P55D. I'm on Windows 8.1 32-bit and have more RAM than 32-bit Windows can see (8GB, so it sees about 3GB). If relevant I also have a Modular Technologies PCI DAB radio card installed in the PC but that does not interact with NPVR and was not actively in use at the time of these incidents.

Let me know if you need any other information - thanks!
